Job Overview:
As an Events Category Manager, you will play a critical role in developing and executing strategic event procurement initiatives, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring seamless event logistics. You will oversee end-to-end event planning and coordination, driving cost efficiency, quality assurance, and risk management. This role demands strong leadership, strategic thinking, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver exceptional event experiences that meet business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Vendor & Supplier Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors for event-related services such as venues, catering, audio-visual, décor, and entertainment.
- Build and maintain strong vendor relationships to ensure quality service and cost efficiency.
- Procurement Strategy & Contract Management
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with event requirements, budgets, and timelines.
- Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable terms and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Event Logistics & Coordination
- Oversee end-to-end logistics, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, operations, finance) to align event execution with business goals.
- Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify potential risks in procurement and event execution, implementing proactive mitigation measures.
- Ensure all services comply with legal, environmental, and safety standards.
- Quality Assurance & Reporting
- Monitor and enforce quality standards for all event-related services.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities and provide reports to senior management.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Event Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in event planning or category management, with a focus on event-related categories.
- Strong understanding of event trends, technologies, and best practices.
- Excellent negotiation, vendor management, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and event management software (e.g., Cvent, Eventbrite).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a similar category management or event leadership role.
- Familiarity with digital or hybrid event formats.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
Work Environment:
