Key Responsibilities
* Carry out welding and fabrication work for manufacturer spare parts, underground high voltage electrical joint boxes, workshop tools, and equipment maintenance requirements.
* Read and follow technical drawings to fabricate parts, repair components, and support workshop production tasks.
* Perform structural repairs and modifications on lifting equipment, including container cranes, mobile cranes, and RTGs.
* Select suitable welding methods, materials, and pre-heating procedures based on the job requirement, equipment condition, and safety standard.
* Ensure all welding activities comply with DP World standards, safety procedures, and approved work practices.
* Confirm that safe working platforms are available before carrying out welding or repair work on cranes and elevated equipment.
* Complete assigned fabrication and repair tasks within required timelines to help avoid operational delays.
* Inspect work quality during and after welding to ensure strength, accuracy, and safe equipment performance.
* Keep updated with new welding techniques, tools, and equipment that can improve repair quality and workshop efficiency.
* Support maintenance teams by responding to urgent repair needs connected to port equipment and lifting assets.
* Maintain tools, welding equipment, and work areas in safe and orderly condition.
* Provide guidance to Associate Technicians when required to maintain consistent workmanship and safe working standards.
Ideal Profile
* Technical training, trade certification, or practical qualification in welding, fabrication, mechanical maintenance, or a related discipline.
* Hands-on experience in welding, metal fabrication, structural repair, or heavy equipment maintenance.
* Experience working on cranes, RTGs, container handling equipment, port equipment, or industrial lifting assets is an advantage.
* Ability to understand technical drawings, fabrication requirements, welding symbols, and workshop instructions.
* Good knowledge of welding methods, pre-heating procedures, material preparation, cutting, grinding, and finishing work.
* Strong awareness of safety requirements when working around heavy equipment, elevated platforms, and operational port machinery.
* Able to complete repair work accurately while managing time-sensitive operational requirements.
* Reliable, disciplined, and quality-focused with the ability to work independently or as part of a maintenance team.
* Willing to support junior technicians and contribute to safe, efficient workshop operations.
