YO IT Consulting is seeking a FreeCAD Design Engineer - Mechanical Systems for a remote contract in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates within Mechanical / Industrial Engineering. The engineer will develop parametric parts, coordinate mechanical assemblies, prepare manufacturing drawings, and conduct detailed quality reviews using FreeCAD or an equivalent CAD platform.

Role Context
The position supports mechanical-product development through accurate models and
documentation that can move reliably into review, manufacturing, inspection, and assembly. Parametric relationships must remain stable when dimensions change, while component interfaces and tolerances must reflect practical production requirements.
The engineer will also assess existing CAD files, identify integrity concerns, and recommend improvements to both individual designs and broader modelling workflows.
Key Responsibilities
* Build parametric mechanical parts in FreeCAD from supplied specifications and design requirements.
* Establish stable sketches, constraints, dimensions, features, and reference geometry.
* Modify existing models without disrupting design intent or downstream dependencies.
* Test parameter changes and confirm that models rebuild without unexpected failures.
* Create mechanical assemblies with accurate component placement and interface relationships.
* Evaluate fit, clearance, alignment, motion, accessibility, and potential interference.
* Improve assembly structures to support efficient revision and component reuse.
* Apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing according to functional requirements.
* Use Design for Manufacturing principles when defining geometry, materials, and production details.
* Select reasonable tolerances based on process capability and component purpose.
* Generate technical drawings with complete dimensions, notes, views, sections, and callouts.
* Prepare manufacturing and assembly documentation for engineering review.
* Inspect CAD files for broken references, weak constraints, invalid geometry, or unstable features.
* Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, consistency, and compliance with specifications.
* Record quality findings and explain the technical impact of each issue.
* Recommend practical corrections to resolve model or documentation concerns.
* Use Python scripts to automate repetitive modelling, checking, or file-management activities when appropriate.
* Standardize recurring CAD tasks to improve speed and consistency.
* Collaborate remotely with engineers, designers, and project reviewers.
* Maintain controlled file structures, naming conventions, revisions, and design records.
Ideal Profile
Candidates should have at least two years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, product design, or another relevant field involving parametric CAD modelling.
Advanced FreeCAD capability is strongly preferred, although substantial experience with comparable parametric design software may be considered. Applicants must understand mechanical-design fundamentals, assembly practices, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and Design for Manufacturing.
Experience preparing manufacturing-ready technical drawings and performing CAD quality assurance is required. Python scripting for design automation is highly valued but not mandatory.
