The
Lead Mechanical Engineer will provide technical leadership for mechanical engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, translating design requirements, statutory obligations, and engineering standards into safe and buildable solutions. The position combines construction oversight with design review, inspection, MEP coordination, risk management, contractor engagement, and team leadership. By maintaining control over mechanical quality, interfaces, schedules, and technical decisions, the role contributes directly to reliable project delivery and long-term facility performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical engineering development and construction oversight while ensuring designs satisfy project specifications, applicable codes, statutory requirements, and recognized engineering standards.
* Direct mechanical activities from concept and design review through procurement, installation, testing, commissioning support, and project completion.
* Develop and review engineering policies, technical standards, inspection procedures, evaluation methods, and mechanical compliance requirements.
* Coordinate mechanical interfaces involving plumbing, fire protection, electrical systems, and other MEP disciplines to prevent design and construction conflicts.
* Review mechanical drawings, calculations, specifications, material submissions, equipment selections, and technical documentation for completeness and constructability.
* Provide solutions to complex mechanical engineering issues encountered during design development and site execution.
* Monitor budgets, engineering schedules, deliverables, construction progress, and technical dependencies affecting mechanical work packages.
* Conduct and oversee inspections, technical reviews, testing activities, and quality verification to protect the integrity of installed systems.
* Guide mechanical engineers and designers, review their technical output, and support the development of consistent engineering practices across the team.
* Work directly with contractors, suppliers, and vendors on equipment selection, technical compliance, procurement requirements, delivery schedules, and installation matters.
* Identify mechanical design and construction risks early and establish practical mitigation measures that protect safety, cost, quality, and program objectives.
* Act as a senior technical contact for client representatives, responding to engineering concerns and providing clear recommendations throughout the project lifecycle.
* Verify compliance with relevant building regulations and local, national, and international mechanical engineering codes.
* Evaluate emerging technologies, engineering methods, and MEP solutions that can improve system efficiency, constructability, reliability, and project performance.
* Use project and enterprise systems to support engineering coordination, documentation, reporting, and technical workflow control.
Ideal Profile
The position requires a Bachelor\'s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 14 years of progressively responsible mechanical engineering experience, with a strong concentration on construction oversight. Experience delivering stadiums, major public venues, or similarly complex facilities is strongly preferred, while previous work within a PMC environment would provide a significant advantage.
Candidates should possess detailed knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and wider MEP interfaces together with the ability to interpret building codes and engineering standards. Professional MMUP Engineer Registration - UPDA certification is preferred.
The successful engineer will be comfortable leading multidisciplinary technical discussions, resolving difficult site and design issues, reviewing contractor work, managing priorities, and communicating engineering decisions to clients and project stakeholders.
