Role Context
Major highway and tunnel developments require mechanical systems that maintain safe air quality, temperature control, drainage, water distribution, and emergency operating conditions. These systems must be technically accurate, coordinated with civil and electrical infrastructure, and suitable for reliable operation under demanding conditions.
The Mechanical Engineer will provide senior design capability within the project-management office. High-quality calculations, coordinated technical documents, and thorough third-party reviews will support timely approvals, procurement, constructability, and long-term asset performance.
Key Responsibilities
The engineer will manage technically complex mechanical-design assignments from early concepts through construction-ready documentation.
* Perform concept and detailed-design engineering for infrastructure mechanical systems.
* Extract and interpret engineering information from CAD drawings and coordinated models.
* Develop tunnel-ventilation system designs and associated technical calculations.
* Design HVAC systems for tunnel, utility, operational, and supporting facilities.
* Prepare plumbing layouts, schematics, calculations, and equipment requirements.
* Complete pipe-sizing calculations for water and mechanical-service networks.
* Calculate pump heads for primary, secondary, and distribution chilled-water systems.
* Develop technical requirements for condenser-water systems.
* Design side-stream filtration arrangements and booster-pump systems.
* Prepare coordinated drawings, calculations, schedules, specifications, and design reports.
* Produce documentation suitable for tendering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
* Develop and issue equipment specifications and technical data sheets.
* Coordinate mechanical designs with civil, structural, electrical, fire-safety, and other engineering disciplines.
* Resolve spatial, technical, and operational interfaces affecting mechanical systems.
* Review third-party designs and consolidate technical comments for approval.
* Assess supplier drawings, equipment selections, and material submissions.
* Perform technical analyses of contractor and supplier bids.
* Verify compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, and approved design criteria.
* Provide technical direction to CAD designers, drafters, junior engineers, and other project-team members.
* Review work produced by less-experienced personnel for accuracy and consistency.
* Support multidisciplinary teams where mechanical input is required.
* Advise senior management on significant mechanical-engineering matters.
* Manage major technical assignments or project work packages when required.
* Maintain design records and support the closure of technical comments.
* Perform other engineering responsibilities assigned by project leadership.
