Senior FreeCAD Engineer - Parametric CAD

Key Responsibilities

* Create detailed parametric 3D CAD models in FreeCAD according to defined engineering and project requirements.
* Modify existing models while maintaining dimensional relationships, design intent and parametric integrity.
* Validate completed FreeCAD models against technical specifications and expected engineering outcomes.
* Develop mechanical parts and assemblies suitable for realistic engineering and manufacturing applications.
* Structure assemblies to support efficient component integration, modification and downstream review.
* Apply sound mechanical design principles when defining geometry, interfaces and component relationships.
* Use Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing principles to communicate functional manufacturing requirements.
* Apply DFM considerations when developing components intended for practical production.
* Evaluate tolerances, interfaces and manufacturing constraints before finalizing design outputs.
* Generate accurate engineering drawings from completed parametric models.
* Prepare dimensions, annotations, tolerances and supporting information required for manufacturing and assembly.
* Produce technical documentation that clearly communicates design intent to engineering reviewers.
* Conduct engineering QA reviews of CAD parts, assemblies and associated drawings.
* Check models for dimensional errors, missing constraints and inconsistent design relationships.
* Identify geometry or assembly conditions that could create manufacturing or integration problems.
* Verify model integrity and compliance with supplied technical requirements.
* Document CAD quality issues clearly and recommend practical corrective actions.
* Review drawing completeness before engineering or manufacturing handoff.
* Analyze design outputs to determine whether they accurately represent the intended mechanical function.
* Provide detailed feedback on model accuracy, engineering quality and design methodology.
* Recommend improvements to modeling workflows where greater accuracy or efficiency can be achieved.
* Use FreeCAD features effectively for sketches, constraints, parametric parts and technical drawings.
* Support iterative model refinement based on engineering review findings.
* Maintain consistency between 3D models, assemblies and corresponding technical documentation.
* Use Python scripting to automate repetitive FreeCAD operations where appropriate.
* Develop or adapt scripts that improve efficiency in complex CAD modeling workflows when required.
* Apply analytical reasoning to diagnose modeling, constraint and assembly problems.
* Contribute realistic engineering examples that reflect professional CAD workflows rather than simplified textbook exercises.
* Collaborate remotely with project stakeholders and respond constructively to technical feedback.
* Deliver accurate project outputs according to agreed specifications and quality requirements.

Ideal Profile

* Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product design, industrial engineering or a related technical field.
* Strong professional experience with parametric CAD modeling.
* Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or comparable parametric CAD software.
* Practical understanding of mechanical component and assembly design.
* Strong knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
* Working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing principles.
* Experience producing manufacturing-ready engineering drawings.
* Ability to create clear dimensional specifications, annotations and tolerances.
* Experience building and modifying complex parametric models.
* Strong understanding of model constraints and design intent.
* Ability to review CAD models systematically for engineering accuracy and integrity.
* Experience conducting engineering QA or design verification.
