Position Overview
Parsons is hiring a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Abu Dhabi, UAE to deliver mechanical and process design for sewage treatment plants, sewage pumping and lift stations, utility buildings, and associated infrastructure systems. The role covers treatment processes, pumping systems, piping and pipelines, odour control, HVAC and ventilation, fire protection, equipment selection, hydraulic calculations, and technical design reviews.
The position requires extensive experience designing sewage pumping stations and major utility buildings, with strong UAE project exposure. The engineer will develop and review mechanical design solutions from planning and equipment selection through tender evaluation, testing, commissioning documentation, and
operation and maintenance requirements.

What You\'ll Be Doing
* Design and plan sewage treatment plants, sewage pumping stations, lift stations, treatment facilities, odour control systems, and associated mechanical and piping systems.
* Develop treatment system designs using processes such as Activated Sludge Process, Membrane Bioreactors, Moving Bed Biofilm Reactors, containerized systems, and package sewage treatment plants.
* Design treatment components including screening chambers, grit chambers, primary settling tanks, clarifiers, aeration tanks, blowers, diffusers, trickling filters, chlorination systems, sludge handling units, and dewatering systems.
* Develop mechanical designs for potable water, irrigation, stormwater, and wastewater pumping stations.
* Coordinate process, piping, mechanical equipment, and utility infrastructure requirements.
Pumping and Piping Design
* Engineer piping systems and pipelines for treatment and pumping facilities.
* Prepare piping general arrangement drawings, equipment layouts, piping isometrics, and valve chamber piping drawings.
* Develop material take-offs for mechanical and piping systems.
* Perform pump selection, pipe sizing, tank sizing, wet well sizing, and valve selection.
* Develop system curves and complete pump calculations.
* Coordinate pump selection and technical requirements with equipment vendors.
* Review piping and mechanical layouts for compliance with project specifications and established engineering procedures.
Mechanical Building Systems
* Produce HVAC and ventilation designs for pumping stations, treatment plants, and associated facilities.
* Develop fire protection system designs for pumping stations and related buildings.
* Review HVAC, ventilation, and chilled water system designs.
* Evaluate physical modelling and CFD modelling associated with wet wells and pump intake arrangements.
* Review Revit models where required as part of mechanical design coordination.
Technical Documentation and Design Assurance
* Prepare mechanical and piping specifications and technical data sheets.
* Develop process diagrams and material requisitions.
* Prepare and review testing and commissioning procedures.
* Review operation and maintenance manuals.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and computer-generated engineering reports.
* Review mechanical, process, piping, equipment layout, isometric, and valve chamber drawings.
* Verify compliance with project specifications and applicable design procedures.
* Review equipment testing and commissioning requirements and provide technical comments.
Tendering and Engineering Support
* Evaluate technical tender submissions and prepare clarification queries for bidders.
* Prepare Technical Tender Evaluation Reports for client review.
* Contribute technical information to contract documentation.
* Develop cost estimates for mechanical and process equipment in coordination with equipment vendors.
* Estimate engineering level of effort and associated costs.
* Support bid submissions for engineering and construction projects.
* Review customer proposals, specifications, manuals, and supporting technical information to assess design feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements.
Engineering Analysis and Improvement
* Review troubleshooting procedures and monitor technical progress.
* Participate in testing and inspections.
