Role Context
This consultant appointment provides specialist surgical care for patients with breast cancer, benign breast disease, suspicious lesions, and conditions requiring reconstructive or minimally invasive intervention. The surgeon will guide patients
The role requires close collaboration with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, nurses, and other specialists. Fluent Arabic communication will support culturally sensitive consultations, informed decision-making, and stronger patient understanding throughout emotionally demanding treatment journeys.
Key Responsibilities
* Evaluate and diagnose benign and malignant breast conditions.
* Assess breast masses, imaging abnormalities, biopsy findings, and other clinical concerns.
* Develop individualized surgical treatment plans based on diagnosis, cancer stage, patient health, and personal preferences.
* Perform lumpectomy, mastectomy, and other approved breast-conserving or oncologic procedures.
* Undertake reconstructive breast surgery within the consultant\'s credentialed clinical scope.
* Apply minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques where clinically appropriate.
* Review imaging, pathology, laboratory findings, and staging investigations.
* Participate in multidisciplinary tumor board meetings and complex case discussions.
* Coordinate treatment with oncology, radiology, pathology, plastic surgery, and other clinical services.
* Provide clear preoperative counseling regarding treatment options, surgical risks, anticipated outcomes, and recovery.
* Deliver comprehensive postoperative care and monitor wound healing, pain control, complications, and functional recovery.
* Support follow-up planning, cancer surveillance, and referral for additional oncology treatment when required.
* Educate patients about breast health, preventive care, warning signs, recovery, and long-term monitoring.
* Communicate sensitively with Arabic-speaking patients and their families.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent records, pathology reviews, and follow-up plans.
* Ensure compliance with hospital policies, professional standards, patient safety requirements, and applicable Dubai healthcare regulations.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, quality improvement programs, teaching, and continuing medical education.
* Remain current with developments in breast oncology, reconstructive surgery, robotic techniques, and evidence-based surgical care.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a medical degree from an accredited institution and possess recognized board certification in General Surgery with approved specialization or subspecialty training in Breast Surgery.
Candidates should have between five and ten years of professional experience in breast surgery, including substantial responsibility for oncologic and reconstructive procedures. Strong expertise in lumpectomy, mastectomy, breast cancer surgery, multidisciplinary treatment planning, and postoperative management is essential.
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is mandatory. Strong English communication is also expected for clinical documentation and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Western medical education or specialist training is preferred. The successful consultant will demonstrate excellent surgical judgment, compassionate communication, patient-centered decision-making, and the ability to work effectively within a complex multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
