Context
The Consultant Dermatologist provides specialist assessment and treatment for patients presenting with both common and complex dermatological conditions. The role combines diagnostic dermatology, procedural treatment, long-term disease management and selected aesthetic interventions within a modern clinical environment.
Through accurate diagnosis, early identification of potentially serious skin disease and individualized treatment planning, the consultant helps improve clinical outcomes while supporting patient confidence and quality of life. The role also contributes to multidisciplinary care, professional development of junior staff and continuous improvement of dermatology services.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage a broad range of skin, hair and nail disorders.
* Assess patients presenting with acne and develop individualized treatment strategies.
* Manage eczema and other inflammatory dermatological conditions.
* Provide evidence-based treatment for psoriasis according to disease severity and patient needs.
* Diagnose and manage vitiligo using appropriate medical and procedural approaches.
* Evaluate suspicious skin lesions and identify potential skin malignancies.
* Conduct detailed full-skin examinations for diagnostic and screening purposes.
* Perform dermoscopy to support assessment of pigmented and non-pigmented lesions.
* Undertake skin biopsies when histopathological evaluation is required.
* Interpret clinical and pathology findings to establish accurate diagnoses.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on clinical presentation, investigation results and patient preferences.
* Perform laser-based dermatological procedures within approved clinical privileges.
* Deliver chemical peel treatments for appropriate medical or cosmetic indications.
* Perform cryotherapy for suitable dermatological lesions.
* Use phototherapy in the management of selected chronic skin conditions.
* Manage patients requiring combined medical and procedural dermatology care.
* Evaluate cosmetic dermatology concerns and recommend appropriate treatment options.
* Counsel patients regarding expected outcomes, limitations and potential risks of aesthetic procedures.

The successful consultant should demonstrate broad clinical competence across inflammatory skin disease, pigmentary disorders, acne, psoriasis, skin cancer assessment and chronic dermatological conditions.
Strong procedural capability is essential, including dermoscopy, skin biopsy, laser therapy, cryotherapy, phototherapy and other modern dermatological treatment techniques.
