Role Context
The Consultant - Dermatology will deliver specialist dermatological care for patients presenting with acute, chronic, cosmetic, and preventive skin health needs. The role involves detailed consultation, accurate diagnosis, diagnostic testing, surgical skin procedures, medication management, patient education, and long-term follow-up. The consultant will help strengthen dermatology services in Dubai by combining clinical expertise, ethical practice, clear communication, and a strong commitment to excellent patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose skin conditions through detailed physical examination, medical history review, clinical assessment, and appropriate diagnostic evaluation.
* Conduct dermatology-related tests and procedures to support accurate diagnosis and evidence-based treatment planning.
* Develop personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s medical history, skin condition, risk factors, lifestyle needs, and treatment goals.
* Manage a wide range of dermatological concerns, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, infections, pigmentation disorders, hair loss, allergic skin conditions, and other skin-related diseases.
* Perform minor surgical dermatology procedures such as skin biopsies, excisions, suturing, lesion removal, and wound care where clinically required.
* Prescribe medications, topical treatments, systemic therapies, and follow-up care plans in line with safe dermatology practice.
* Educate patients on skincare routines, preventive measures, sun protection, treatment adherence, and long-term skin health.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care for patients with complex or multidisciplinary needs.
* Keep updated with new advancements, clinical techniques, technologies, and treatment approaches in dermatology.
* Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including consultation notes, diagnosis, procedure details, consent forms, prescriptions, and follow-up documentation.
* Follow ethical and professional standards of practice, patient confidentiality requirements, DHA regulations, and clinical governance guidelines.
* Support a positive patient experience through clear communication, empathy, professionalism, and reliable clinical care.
Ideal Profile
* Medical degree in Dermatology from an accredited institution.
* Board certification or equivalent recognized qualification in Dermatology.
* Valid medical license to practice in Dubai or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority Consultant licensure.
* Minimum 5 years of experience as a Consultant Dermatologist.
* Proven experience diagnosing and treating a broad range of dermatological conditions.
* Strong ability to perform dermatology procedures such as skin biopsies, excisions, suturing, and related minor surgical treatments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-centered approach.
* Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure.
* Fluent English communication skills are required, while Arabic language ability is an advantage.
