Role Context
The Consultant Emergency Medicine will provide immediate assessment and treatment for
This role also carries responsibility for emergency department leadership, junior doctor supervision, clinical documentation, and collaboration with specialists across the hospital. Through sound clinical judgment and effective team coordination, the consultant will help improve response times, treatment quality, and patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct rapid clinical assessments of patients arriving at the emergency department.
* Review symptoms, medical history, observations, examination findings, and diagnostic results.
* Diagnose acute illnesses, severe injuries, and life-threatening medical emergencies.
* Develop immediate treatment plans based on clinical urgency and patient condition.
* Stabilize critically ill or injured patients using appropriate emergency interventions.
* Initiate resuscitation, airway management, cardiovascular support, and other urgent procedures when required.
* Prioritize patient care according to clinical severity and emergency department protocols.
* Request and interpret laboratory tests, medical imaging, cardiac investigations, and other diagnostic procedures.
* Coordinate referrals and admissions with intensive care, surgery, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine, and other specialties.
* Communicate clearly with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, risks, and next steps.
* Lead multidisciplinary emergency care involving nurses, paramedics, technicians, and specialist physicians.
* Supervise junior doctors and provide clinical guidance during complex or high-risk cases.
* Support medical education, case discussions, and professional development within the emergency department.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of consultations, procedures, treatment decisions, and patient outcomes.
* Participate in emergency department audits, morbidity reviews, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Follow hospital policies, infection prevention requirements, patient safety standards, and professional ethical guidelines.
* Maintain current knowledge through continuous medical education and evidence-based emergency medicine practice.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a recognized medical degree from an accredited institution and possess specialist board certification in Emergency Medicine.
Candidates must hold UK CCT, American Board, Canadian Board, or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification. A minimum of five years of postgraduate experience in Emergency Medicine is required, with substantial consultant-level clinical capability preferred.
A valid Dubai Health Authority licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is essential for practice in Dubai.
Previous experience working in the Middle East would be advantageous. Candidates must demonstrate strong clinical leadership, decisive judgment, effective communication, and the ability to remain composed in high-pressure emergency situations.
Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language proficiency would provide an additional advantage.
