Role Context
This consultant appointment covers the diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management of a broad range of otolaryngology conditions.
The role combines general ENT practice with advanced sinus, ear, airway, laryngeal, and head and neck surgery. Close coordination with audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, oncologists, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and other specialists will support accurate diagnosis, coordinated treatment planning, and safer clinical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage adult and pediatric ear, nose, throat, airway, hearing, and head and neck disorders.
* Treat sinusitis, otitis media, hearing loss, sleep apnea, voice disorders, and related ENT conditions.
* Assess patients with suspected benign or malignant head and neck tumors.
* Perform comprehensive ENT examinations and develop individualized treatment plans.
* Carry out tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, septoplasty, and other approved procedures.
* Perform functional endoscopic sinus surgery for suitable patients.
* Conduct microscopic ear surgery and manage complex middle ear conditions.
* Perform diagnostic and operative laryngoscopy within approved clinical privileges.
* Undertake head and neck reconstructive surgery where clinically indicated.
* Interpret CT scans, MRI studies, audiograms, endoscopic findings, and other diagnostic investigations.
* Provide evidence-based medical management when surgery is not required.
* Deliver preoperative assessment and explain procedures, alternatives, risks, and expected outcomes.
* Oversee postoperative recovery, wound care, airway monitoring, pain control, and follow-up.
* Coordinate treatment with audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, oncologists, pediatricians, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Provide inpatient consultations and manage admitted ENT patients.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent records, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, morbidity reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and departmental meetings.
* Contribute to continuing medical education and departmental protocol development.
* Maintain compliance with hospital policies, patient safety requirements, and Dubai healthcare regulations.
* Remain current with advances in otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, endoscopic techniques, and reconstructive care.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a recognized medical degree and possess board certification in Otolaryngology through the American Board, Royal College, or an equivalent approved authority.
A minimum of five years of post-specialization experience in a tertiary-care or academic hospital is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong capability across adult and pediatric ENT care, diagnostic assessment, surgical treatment, and postoperative management.
A valid Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is essential.
The preferred consultant will have proven expertise in endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, laryngoscopy, head and neck procedures, and multidisciplinary case management. Excellent communication, clinical judgment, surgical precision, and commitment to patient safety are required.
