The Consultant Gastroenterologist provides specialist

The consultant has a direct impact on early diagnosis, symptom control, cancer detection, complication prevention, and timely therapeutic intervention. Close collaboration with surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, dietitians, and other specialists supports coordinated care for patients whose conditions require multidisciplinary management.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess patients presenting with acute and chronic gastrointestinal symptoms.
* Diagnose and manage disorders affecting the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, and biliary system.
* Conduct detailed clinical evaluations supported by appropriate diagnostic testing.
* Develop evidence-based treatment plans according to diagnosis, severity, and individual patient requirements.
* Provide specialist outpatient gastroenterology consultations.
* Deliver inpatient gastroenterology consultation for hospitalized patients.
* Manage gastrointestinal bleeding and other acute digestive presentations within approved clinical privileges.
* Evaluate patients with abdominal pain, altered bowel habits, dyspepsia, reflux, and other gastrointestinal complaints.
* Manage inflammatory and structural gastrointestinal disorders.
* Assess hepatobiliary conditions requiring specialist medical management.
* Interpret laboratory investigations relevant to gastrointestinal and liver disease.
* Review radiological imaging and integrate findings into clinical decision-making.
