Role Context
This consultant appointment provides specialist neurological care for patients with complex disorders affecting the brain, spinal cord, peripheral
The role requires close collaboration with emergency medicine, radiology, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, internal medicine, intensive care, and other clinical specialties. Strong diagnostic judgment and effective care coordination will support timely intervention, improved disease control, and better functional outcomes for patients.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive neurological consultations and physical examinations.
* Evaluate patients presenting with acute, progressive, recurrent, or chronic neurological symptoms.
* Diagnose and manage stroke, epilepsy, Parkinson\'s disease, multiple sclerosis, migraine, and related neurological conditions.
* Develop individualized treatment and monitoring plans based on clinical findings and diagnostic results.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient neurological consultations.
* Interpret MRI, CT, EEG, EMG, and other neurodiagnostic investigations.
* Perform or interpret lumbar punctures and related neurological procedures within the approved scope of practice.
* Assess treatment response and adjust medication, rehabilitation, or follow-up plans when required.
* Coordinate urgent care for patients with acute stroke, seizures, neurological deterioration, or other high-risk presentations.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and complex case discussions.
* Collaborate with radiologists, neurosurgeons, intensivists, rehabilitation physicians, and allied healthcare professionals.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment options, potential complications, and long-term management plans to patients and families.
* Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, and clinical team members.
* Contribute to clinical audits, quality improvement programs, and patient safety initiatives.
* Participate in neurological research, case presentations, teaching, and continuing medical education.
* Maintain accurate consultation records, diagnostic reports, treatment plans, and follow-up documentation.
* Follow hospital protocols, ethical standards, professional requirements, and applicable healthcare regulations.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and possess Board Certification in Neurology.
Accepted qualifications may include Saudi Board, Arab Board, American Board, Canadian Board, or a recognized European equivalent. Candidates should have at least three to five years of post-specialization experience in clinical neurology.
Strong capability in neuroimaging interpretation, neurophysiological diagnostics, stroke care, epilepsy management, movement disorders, demyelinating disease, and headache medicine is required.
Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is essential. The preferred candidate will demonstrate confident clinical decision-making, leadership, clear communication, and effective multidisciplinary teamwork.
Fluency in English is required. Arabic language proficiency would be advantageous.
