Role Context
The Consultant OB-GYN will provide continuous medical and surgical care for women from adolescence and reproductive
age through pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal recovery, and menopause. The position requires confident management of routine consultations alongside complex obstetric and gynecological cases.
The consultant will work with midwives, nurses, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, radiologists, fertility specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate safe and individualized treatment. Clinical judgment, sensitive communication, and timely intervention will directly influence maternal health, fetal well-being, reproductive outcomes, and patient confidence.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide evidence-based obstetric and gynecological care to women across different stages of life.
* Conduct routine gynecological examinations, preventive screenings, and reproductive health assessments.
* Diagnose and manage endometriosis, pelvic pain, irregular menstruation, abnormal bleeding, infections, and other common conditions.
* Evaluate complex gynecological disorders and develop individualized medical or surgical treatment plans.
* Deliver babies through vaginal delivery and perform Caesarean sections when clinically indicated.
* Manage labor, obstetric emergencies, pregnancy complications, and high-risk clinical situations within the approved scope of practice.
* Provide postnatal care to mothers and monitor recovery following delivery or surgery.
* Deliver prenatal care through scheduled examinations, ultrasound review, blood testing, and fetal health monitoring.
* Discuss genetic screening and coordinate genetic counseling when clinically appropriate.
* Perform approved obstetric and gynecological procedures using current clinical and surgical techniques.
* Counsel patients regarding contraception, fertility options, family planning, sexual health, and reproductive choices.
* Support women experiencing menopause and provide appropriate evaluation and treatment for related symptoms.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment alternatives, procedural risks, and expected outcomes clearly and sensitively.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative records, consent forms, prescriptions, and follow-up plans.
* Participate in clinical governance, patient safety reviews, audits, and quality improvement activities.
* Remain current with developments in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, and women\'s healthcare through continuing education.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a medical degree from an accredited university and possess American Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Western medical education and specialist training are mandatory.
Candidates should have at least seven years of experience working as a Consultant OB-GYN, including a minimum of three years within the United Arab Emirates or another GCC country.
A valid Dubai Health Authority or Ministry of Health and Prevention licence at Consultant OB-GYN level is required. Applicants should demonstrate broad experience in antenatal care, childbirth, Caesarean delivery, gynecological diagnosis, reproductive health, and surgical treatment.
