The Consultant in Pain Management provides specialist
evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing acute, persistent or complex pain that affects mobility, sleep, function and overall quality of life. The role combines medical diagnosis, medication management, minimally invasive procedures and rehabilitation-focused strategies to reduce symptoms while improving day-to-day function.
Because chronic pain frequently involves neurological, musculoskeletal, oncological and functional components, the consultant works closely with Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology, Rehabilitation Medicine and Physiotherapy. The position requires careful clinical judgment to select appropriate interventions, minimize treatment risk and establish realistic long-term pain management goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients presenting with acute or chronic pain.
* Obtain detailed pain histories, including location, duration, severity, triggers and functional impact.
* Perform focused neurological and musculoskeletal examinations.
* Identify possible nociceptive, neuropathic or mixed pain mechanisms.
* Diagnose complex pain syndromes and determine appropriate treatment pathways.
* Develop individualized pain management plans according to diagnosis, clinical findings and patient goals.
* Prescribe appropriate pharmacological therapy within evidence-based pain management protocols.
* Monitor medication effectiveness and adverse effects.
* Incorporate non-pharmacological strategies into long-term treatment plans.
* Determine when patients may benefit from interventional pain procedures.

Ideal Profile
The position requires an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution together with specialist training in Anesthesiology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Neurology or another relevant clinical specialty.
Candidates should have completed Fellowship or formal subspecialty certification in Pain Management or Pain Medicine from a recognized institution.
Board Certification in the primary specialty and appropriate pain medicine certification are expected.
A minimum of 3-5 years of post-board consultant experience in Pain Management is required.
The successful physician should demonstrate broad experience treating acute and chronic pain disorders in outpatient and hospital settings.
Advanced procedural expertise in nerve blocks, epidural steroid injections, radiofrequency ablation, joint injections and image-guided interventions is highly desirable.
