A leading tertiary-care hospital is hiring an experienced pediatric endocrinology consultant to provide complex inpatient and outpatient care while supporting service development, multidisciplinary collaboration, teaching, research, and clinical governance.

Role Context

This consultant appointment provides specialist care for children


with acute, chronic, congenital, and complex endocrine or metabolic conditions. The physician will assess growth, development, hormone function, glucose regulation, bone health, and puberty before establishing individualized treatment and long-term monitoring plans.

The role spans outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, neonatal and pediatric intensive care support, multidisciplinary case management, and family education. Accurate diagnosis and sustained follow-up will help improve disease control, normal development, treatment adherence, and quality of life for children living with long-term endocrine conditions.

Key Responsibilities

* Diagnose and manage endocrine and metabolic disorders affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
* Treat Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus using individualized medical and lifestyle plans.
* Evaluate growth disorders, short stature, abnormal growth velocity, and related developmental concerns.
* Diagnose and manage thyroid, adrenal, pituitary, and congenital endocrine abnormalities.
* Assess precocious puberty, delayed puberty, and other puberty-related disorders.
* Manage metabolic bone disease and calcium or phosphate abnormalities.
* Provide inpatient consultations for neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, and general pediatric services.
* Lead outpatient clinics for chronic endocrine disorders and long-term patient monitoring.
* Interpret endocrine laboratory investigations, dynamic hormone tests, genetic findings, and relevant imaging.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, age, disease severity, growth, and family circumstances.
* Prescribe and monitor insulin, hormone replacement, endocrine medication, and other specialist therapies.
* Participate in multidisciplinary diabetes, obesity, genetics, and metabolic clinics.
* Coordinate care with pediatricians, dietitians, geneticists, nurses, psychologists, and other specialists.
* Educate patients and families about diabetes care, glucose monitoring, hormone treatment, growth tracking, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modification.
* Support families in managing chronic conditions and complex treatment schedules at home.
* Monitor treatment response, development, laboratory findings, and potential complications.
* Develop and update pediatric endocrine pathways, protocols, and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
* Participate in morbidity and mortality reviews, clinical audits, governance meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Mentor junior physicians, residents, fellows, nurses, and other clinical team members.
* Contribute to clinical research, case studies, institutional review activities, and continuing medical education.
* Teach medical students, residents, and fellows and represent the department at professional conferences.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, investigation results, treatment plans, prescriptions, and follow-up documentation.
* Ensure compliance with hospital policies, patient safety standards, and applicable Dubai healthcare regulations.

Ideal Profile

Applicants must hold an MD, MBBS, or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and possess board certification in Pediatrics.

Formal fellowship training in Pediatric Endocrinology is required. Accepted specialist credentials may include American Board, Royal College, Arab Board, or another recognized equivalent.

Candidates should have at least eight to ten years of post-specialization experience, including established consultant-level practice. Strong expertise in pediatric diabetes, growth disorders, thyroid disease, adrenal and pituitary conditions, puberty abnormalities, congenital endocrine disorders, and metabolic bone disease is essential.

Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is required. The successful physician will demonstrate advanced diagnostic judgment, compassionate family communication, strong leadership, and effective multidisciplinary teamwork.

Fluency in English is required. Arabic language proficiency would be advantageous.
