Role Context

This consultant appointment provides specialist otolaryngology care for pediatric patients with common,


complex, congenital, and potentially life-threatening ENT conditions. The physician will assess children with hearing impairment, recurrent infections, airway abnormalities, sleep-related breathing problems, and disorders affecting speech or swallowing.

The role combines outpatient consultations, diagnostic procedures, surgical intervention, inpatient follow-up, and multidisciplinary case coordination. Accurate diagnosis and age-appropriate treatment will help protect hearing, breathing, communication, sleep quality, development, and long-term well-being.

Key Responsibilities

* Evaluate infants, children, and adolescents presenting with ear, nose, throat, airway, hearing, speech, or swallowing concerns.
* Diagnose and manage recurrent otitis media, chronic ear disease, tonsillitis, adenoid enlargement, and sinus disorders.
* Assess hearing loss and coordinate appropriate audiological investigations and rehabilitation support.
* Manage congenital ENT abnormalities and complex pediatric otolaryngology conditions.
* Evaluate airway obstruction, sleep-disordered breathing, snoring, and pediatric sleep apnea symptoms.
* Diagnose and treat speech, voice, feeding, and swallowing disorders within the approved clinical scope.
* Perform flexible or rigid endoscopic assessments when clinically indicated.
* Review audiological findings, imaging studies, laboratory results, and other diagnostic information.
* Develop individualized medical, surgical, and follow-up plans based on the child\'s condition and developmental needs.
* Perform tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, ventilation tube insertion, and other approved pediatric ENT procedures.
* Undertake pediatric airway surgery and specialized interventions within the consultant\'s credentialed privileges.
* Provide preoperative assessment and explain procedures, alternatives, risks, recovery, and expected outcomes to families.
* Deliver postoperative care and monitor healing, airway status, hearing, pain control, and potential complications.
* Provide expert consultation to pediatricians, neonatologists, intensivists, audiologists, speech therapists, and other specialists.
* Participate in multidisciplinary discussions for children with complex airway, hearing, neurological, craniofacial, or developmental needs.
* Monitor clinical progress and modify treatment plans when symptoms, test results, or functional needs change.
* Maintain complete consultation records, procedure notes, operative reports, consent documentation, and follow-up plans.
* Participate in clinical audits, patient safety reviews, quality improvement programs, teaching, and research.
* Keep professional knowledge current through continuing medical education and developments in pediatric otolaryngology.

Ideal Profile

Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and have completed approved specialist training in Otolaryngology.

Formal fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric ENT is required. Western medical education or clinical experience gained in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or an equivalent healthcare system is mandatory.

Candidates must have at least five years of experience practicing as a Consultant Pediatric ENT within a reputable tertiary-care hospital. Demonstrated expertise in pediatric airway management, hearing disorders, recurrent infections, congenital conditions, and surgical treatment is essential.

Applicants must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Dubai Health Authority, Department of Health, or Ministry of Health and Prevention Consultant licence, as applicable to the employing facility.

The successful consultant will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, advanced surgical capability, compassionate communication, and effective collaboration with children, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
