The Consultant Pediatric Neurologist
provides specialist evaluation, diagnosis and ongoing management for children presenting with complex neurological conditions. The role covers both acute and chronic disorders and requires close integration of clinical assessment, neurodiagnostic investigations and individualized treatment planning.
The consultant works across inpatient and outpatient services while coordinating with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychologists and other specialists. The position also supports families through clear counseling and long-term care planning, helping improve neurological function, development and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess infants, children and adolescents with suspected or confirmed neurological disorders.
* Diagnose and manage epilepsy across a broad range of pediatric presentations.
* Evaluate children with developmental delay and determine appropriate neurological investigations and management pathways.
* Provide specialist care for pediatric neuromuscular disorders.
* Diagnose and manage recurrent and complex headache conditions.
* Evaluate movement disorders and coordinate appropriate treatment strategies.
* Manage neurogenetic conditions in collaboration with relevant pediatric and genetics specialists.
* Conduct detailed neurological examinations and review comprehensive patient histories.
* Interpret EEG findings as part of seizure and epilepsy assessment.
* Review MRI studies when investigating structural and developmental neurological abnormalities.
* Interpret CT imaging where clinically appropriate, including urgent neurological presentations.
* Evaluate relevant neurophysiological investigations to support diagnosis and treatment planning.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease severity and developmental needs.
* Provide long-term follow-up for children requiring continuing neurological care.
* Manage pediatric neurology patients across both outpatient clinics and inpatient services.
