The role requires close collaboration with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation specialists, psychologists, geneticists, radiologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals. Effective clinical coordination will support improved seizure control, developmental progress, functional ability, family understanding, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage neurological disorders affecting infants, children, and adolescents.
* Assess and treat epilepsy, developmental delay, neuromuscular disorders, headaches, movement disorders, and neurogenetic conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive neurological examinations and review detailed medical and developmental histories.
* Request and interpret EEG, MRI, CT, and other neurophysiological investigations.
* Evaluate seizure patterns and develop individualized epilepsy management plans.
* Assess developmental, cognitive, motor, behavioral, and functional concerns.
* Provide inpatient consultations for acute and medically complex pediatric neurology cases.
* Manage outpatient clinics for chronic neurological conditions and long-term follow-up.
* Develop evidence-based treatment plans according to diagnosis, age, disease severity, and family needs.
* Prescribe and monitor neurological medications and adjust treatment according to clinical response.
* Coordinate care with pediatricians, neurosurgeons, rehabilitation physicians, psychologists, geneticists, and therapists.
* Participate in multidisciplinary pediatric neuroscience meetings and complex case discussions.
* Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosis, prognosis, medication, treatment options, and long-term care.
* Educate caregivers about seizure safety, symptom monitoring, emergency plans, and treatment adherence.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, investigation reports, prescriptions, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, governance activities, and departmental meetings.
* Contribute to research, academic programs, conferences, teaching, and continuing medical education.
* Support junior physicians, residents, fellows, and other clinical team members.
* Remain current with advances in pediatric neurology, neurogenetics, epilepsy care, and neurodiagnostic technologies.
* Follow hospital policies, patient safety requirements, and applicable Dubai healthcare regulations.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from an accredited institution and possess Board Certification, Fellowship, or an equivalent recognized qualification in Pediatric Neurology.
Candidates should have at least five years of experience working as a Consultant Pediatric Neurologist within a reputable tertiary-care or academic hospital.
Strong expertise in epilepsy, developmental disorders, neuromuscular disease, movement disorders, headaches, neurogenetic conditions, EEG interpretation, and pediatric neurophysiology is required.
Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is essential. Western medical education or specialist training would be preferred.
The successful physician will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, analytical ability, communication, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary teamwork. Experience in research, academic medicine, or pediatric neuroscience programs would strengthen an application.
