The role requires close collaboration with pediatricians, intensivists, allergists, respiratory therapists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Accurate diagnosis and coordinated care will help reduce respiratory complications, improve disease control, and support better quality of life for children and their families.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess infants, children, and adolescents presenting with respiratory symptoms and pulmonary disorders.
* Diagnose and manage asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, recurrent respiratory infections, and other pediatric lung conditions.
* Conduct detailed medical assessments covering symptoms, family history, environmental exposure, treatment response, and functional impact.
* Request and interpret diagnostic investigations relevant to pediatric respiratory care.
* Review imaging, laboratory findings, pulmonary assessments, and other clinical results.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on diagnosis, disease severity, age, and patient needs.
* Prescribe appropriate medications and monitor their effectiveness and safety.
* Track patient progress and modify treatment plans when symptoms or clinical findings change.
* Provide inpatient and outpatient consultations for pediatric pulmonology cases.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary care with pediatricians, intensivists, respiratory therapists, radiologists, and other specialists.
* Educate parents and caregivers about medication use, inhaler techniques, symptom monitoring, trigger avoidance, and follow-up care.
* Support families in understanding chronic respiratory conditions and long-term disease management.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of pediatric pulmonary healthcare programs and services.
* Participate in case discussions, clinical meetings, quality improvement activities, and service planning.
* Teach healthcare professionals, trainees, and students where required.
* Maintain accurate and current consultation notes, treatment plans, prescriptions, and follow-up records.
* Follow hospital policies, patient safety requirements, infection control procedures, and applicable Dubai healthcare regulations.
* Remain current with advances in pediatric pulmonology, respiratory diagnostics, and evidence-based treatment.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a medical degree from an accredited institution and have completed recognized specialist training in Pediatric Pulmonology.
Accepted qualifications may include a diploma, board certification, fellowship, or an equivalent approved credential in pediatric respiratory medicine. Western medical education or clinical training is mandatory.
Candidates should have at least five years of clinical experience working as a Pediatric Pulmonologist. Strong experience in asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchitis, chronic respiratory disease, and multidisciplinary pediatric care is required.
Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is essential. The successful consultant will demonstrate sound clinical judgment, careful documentation, compassionate family communication, and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced healthcare environment.
Fluency in English is required. Arabic language capability would be advantageous.
