Role Context
This consultant appointment serves as a primary point of medical care for pediatric
The role requires strong communication with parents and caregivers, particularly when explaining diagnoses, medication, vaccinations, developmental concerns, and treatment plans. Fluency in Arabic will support culturally sensitive consultations, clearer family engagement, and stronger continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive medical care for newborns, infants, children, and adolescents.
* Conduct routine health examinations to assess growth, development, and general well-being.
* Evaluate pediatric patients presenting with injuries, infections, illnesses, or developmental concerns.
* Diagnose and manage common acute and chronic childhood conditions.
* Identify developmental, behavioral, nutritional, and growth-related abnormalities.
* Request and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic investigations.
* Develop individualized treatment and follow-up plans based on diagnosis, age, and clinical needs.
* Prescribe and administer appropriate medication, therapy, vaccination, and preventive treatment.
* Deliver newborn, infant, childhood, and adolescent healthcare.
* Maintain and review immunization schedules in line with applicable clinical guidance.
* Assess pediatric emergencies and initiate stabilization, treatment, or specialist referral when required.
* Coordinate patient care with pediatric subspecialists and other healthcare professionals.
* Refer patients for specialist consultation when advanced assessment or treatment is necessary.
* Monitor treatment response, recovery, growth, and developmental progress.
* Educate parents and caregivers about diagnoses, medication, nutrition, vaccination, safety, and preventive healthcare.
* Explain treatment options, potential risks, warning signs, and follow-up requirements clearly.
* Promote proactive health management and healthy lifestyle practices for children and families.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, prescriptions, vaccination records, test results, and care plans.
* Ensure compliance with Dubai Health Authority requirements, organizational policies, and patient safety standards.
* Participate in clinical meetings, quality improvement programs, and continuing medical education.
* Maintain professional, ethical, compassionate, and family-centered standards of care.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold a recognized medical degree and possess board certification or an equivalent approved specialist qualification in Pediatrics.
Candidates should have at least five years of post-specialization experience in pediatric medicine. Strong knowledge of newborn care, childhood and adolescent health, immunization, developmental monitoring, and pediatric emergency management is required.
Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is essential.
Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is mandatory. Strong English communication is also required for medical documentation and multidisciplinary collaboration.
The successful pediatrician will demonstrate excellent clinical judgment, empathy, patience, communication, and the ability to establish trust with children and their families.
