Role Context
This consultant appointment provides specialist interpretation of PET-CT and related hybrid imaging studies used in oncology, neurology, cardiology, and complex
The role requires close collaboration with oncologists, neurologists, surgeons, nuclear medicine physicians, technologists, physicists, and other clinical specialists. Accurate and timely reporting will directly influence patient management, procedural planning, cancer treatment decisions, and multidisciplinary case outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret PET-CT examinations for oncology, neurology, cardiology, and other approved clinical indications.
* Review hybrid imaging studies including SPECT-CT and diagnostic CT where required.
* Correlate metabolic findings with anatomical imaging, laboratory results, pathology, and clinical history.
* Support cancer diagnosis, staging, treatment planning, response assessment, and recurrence surveillance.
* Evaluate neurological conditions using appropriate molecular and metabolic imaging techniques.
* Provide imaging input for selected cardiac and inflammatory disease investigations.
* Prepare clear, accurate, and clinically useful radiology reports within agreed turnaround times.
* Communicate urgent or unexpected findings promptly to referring physicians.
* Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards and complex case discussions.
* Collaborate with oncologists, neurologists, surgeons, pathologists, and other specialists.
* Advise clinical teams on suitable imaging protocols and follow-up investigations.
* Supervise nuclear medicine technologists and support safe, consistent imaging workflows.
* Guide junior radiologists, trainees, and fellows in PET-CT interpretation and reporting.
* Review image quality and ensure studies meet diagnostic and technical standards.
* Maintain compliance with radiation protection policies, tracer handling requirements, and departmental safety procedures.
* Support the development and review of radiopharmaceutical protocols.
* Apply knowledge of tracer kinetics, biodistribution, physiological uptake, and imaging artifacts.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance programs, and service improvement initiatives.
* Maintain accurate records and complete reporting through PACS and RIS platforms.
* Contribute to research, teaching, academic presentations, and continuing medical education.
* Remain current with advances in molecular imaging, PET radiopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, and hybrid diagnostic systems.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and have completed an accredited residency in Radiology.
Fellowship or formal subspecialty training in PET-CT, Nuclear Medicine Imaging, Molecular Imaging, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates must also possess board certification such as American Board, UK CCT, Canadian FRCP, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
A minimum of three to five years of post-fellowship experience in PET-CT interpretation is required. Strong expertise in oncologic imaging, metabolic diagnostics, hybrid imaging, and multidisciplinary cancer care is essential.
Eligibility for a Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence is required. Candidates should also demonstrate confidence using advanced imaging platforms, PACS, RIS, and structured reporting systems.
The successful consultant will communicate clearly, work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, and maintain consistently high standards of diagnostic accuracy, radiation safety, and patient-centered care. Fluency in English is required, while Arabic language capability would be advantageous.
