Role Context
This consultant appointment combines advanced urogynaecology with general obstetric and gynaecological practice.
The role requires expertise in diagnostic evaluation, conservative management, minimally invasive surgery, and pelvic floor reconstruction. Close coordination with physiotherapists, urologists, colorectal surgeons, radiologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other specialists will support safe treatment planning and improved long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose and manage female urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, overactive bladder, and voiding dysfunction.
* Assess recurrent urinary tract infections and complex pelvic floor disorders.
* Perform comprehensive urogynecological consultations and pelvic examinations.
* Conduct or interpret urodynamic testing, cystoscopy, and pelvic floor assessments.
* Develop individualized conservative, medical, and surgical treatment plans.
* Recommend pelvic floor physiotherapy, bladder training, medication, or other non-surgical interventions where appropriate.
* Perform vaginal and laparoscopic pelvic organ prolapse repair.
* Carry out mid-urethral sling procedures and other approved continence surgeries.
* Undertake pelvic reconstructive surgery for complex pelvic floor conditions.
* Perform hysterectomy and related pelvic procedures when clinically indicated.
* Provide comprehensive preoperative assessment and explain treatment alternatives, risks, and expected outcomes.
* Deliver intraoperative care within the consultant\'s approved clinical privileges.
* Manage postoperative recovery, complication surveillance, pain control, and follow-up.
* Provide outpatient and inpatient general obstetric and gynaecological consultations.
* Diagnose and treat common and complex women\'s health conditions.
* Counsel patients sensitively regarding pelvic health, continence, surgery, recovery, and long-term management.
* Coordinate multidisciplinary treatment with urology, colorectal surgery, physiotherapy, radiology, and other specialties.
* Maintain accurate consultation notes, operative reports, consent records, and follow-up documentation.
* Participate in clinical audits, patient safety reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support teaching, research, departmental education, and continuous professional development.
* Remain current with advances in urogynaecology, pelvic floor reconstruction, and minimally invasive surgery.
Ideal Profile
Applicants must hold an MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution and have completed accredited specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Fellowship or formal subspecialty training in Urogynaecology or Pelvic Floor Reconstruction is mandatory. Candidates must also have Western medical education or clinical training gained in the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, or an equivalent healthcare system.
A minimum of five years of post-specialization experience as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology is required, including substantial responsibility for urogynecological cases and advanced pelvic floor surgery.
A valid Dubai Health Authority Consultant licence, eligibility letter, or confirmed eligibility to obtain one is essential. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent surgical judgment, leadership, communication, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
