Role Context
The Specialist Pediatric Dentist will manage oral healthcare from infancy through adolescence,
including the needs of children with medical, developmental or behavioral considerations. Working within a multidisciplinary clinic network, the specialist will receive referrals from pediatricians, family physicians, ENT clinicians, speech and language professionals and allied health teams. The role combines clinical treatment, early intervention, family education and long-term practice development.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive oral examinations for infants, children and adolescents.
* Evaluate dental development, caries risk, oral hygiene and age-specific treatment needs.
* Create individualized care plans using current pediatric dentistry standards.
* Deliver preventive services designed to protect developing teeth and reduce future disease.
* Diagnose and manage dental caries and early childhood oral health conditions.
* Perform restorative and therapeutic procedures within the approved clinical scope.
* Apply appropriate behavior-guidance methods before and during treatment.
* Adapt communication and clinical techniques for anxious or uncooperative young patients.
* Assess children with special healthcare needs and modify treatment plans where appropriate.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment choices and expected outcomes clearly to parents and caregivers.
* Provide practical guidance on oral hygiene, diet and preventive home care.
* Monitor growth, dental development and treatment progress through planned follow-up.
* Coordinate care with pediatricians, physicians and other healthcare specialists.
* Refer complex cases when hospital care, sedation or additional specialist support is indicated.
* Obtain informed consent and maintain transparent communication throughout treatment.
* Keep complete, accurate and DHA-compliant clinical records.
* Follow infection-control, patient-safety and clinical-governance procedures.
* Contribute to quality-improvement activities and clinical case discussions.
* Maintain specialist competence through continuing professional development.
* Help strengthen the pediatric dental service through trusted family relationships and ethical clinical practice.
Ideal Profile
Candidates must hold a recognized specialist qualification in Pediatric Dentistry and a valid DHA, DOH or MOH license as a Specialist Pediatric Dentist. At least three years of specialist-level experience is preferred, supported by substantial clinical work with infants, children and adolescents.
The ideal specialist will have strong preventive and restorative dentistry capabilities together with excellent patient and parent engagement skills. Experience in children\'s dental clinics, hospital dental departments, special healthcare needs dentistry, community oral-health programs or multidisciplinary pediatric settings will be valuable. Fluency in English is essential, while Arabic language skills are highly desirable.
