Role Context
This opportunity is suitable for an experienced Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist with broad expertise in women\'s health across different life stages. The consultant will provide outpatient and inpatient services, manage pregnancies from antenatal assessment through delivery and postnatal follow-up, and treat common and complex gynecological disorders.
The position also involves surgical care, reproductive health counseling, routine screening, preventive medicine, and clinical governance. The consultant will work alongside neonatologists, anesthetists, radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals while maintaining high standards of safety, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient obstetric and gynecological consultations.
* Conduct detailed examinations, establish diagnoses, and prepare individualized treatment plans.
* Manage normal and high-risk pregnancies throughout the antenatal, labor, delivery, and postnatal stages.
* Monitor maternal and fetal health and respond promptly to pregnancy-related complications.
* Diagnose and treat menstrual disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, infertility, fibroids, endometriosis, and menopausal conditions.
* Perform cesarean sections and other appropriate obstetric procedures.
* Undertake gynecological surgery, including minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures where clinically appropriate.
* Provide routine women\'s health screenings, preventive services, and reproductive healthcare.
* Counsel patients on pregnancy care, fertility, contraception, family planning, menopause, and preventive health.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment choices, procedures, potential risks, and follow-up requirements clearly and sensitively.
* Collaborate with neonatologists, anesthetists, radiologists, nurses, and multidisciplinary medical teams.
* Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and timely patient records.
* Comply with DOH requirements, hospital protocols, ethical standards, infection-control measures, and patient-safety procedures.
* Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
* Contribute to Continuing Medical Education programs and ongoing professional development.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS, MD, or an equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
* Board certification, fellowship, or an equivalent recognized qualification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputable hospital.
* Extensive experience in obstetrics, gynecology, reproductive medicine, and women\'s health management.
* Proven competence in managing routine and high-risk pregnancies.
* Strong surgical skills in obstetric and gynecological procedures.
* Experience with minimally invasive gynecological procedures and laparoscopic surgery is preferred.
* Previous exposure to high-risk obstetric cases within a tertiary healthcare setting is advantageous.
* Excellent diagnostic, clinical decision-making, and patient-counseling abilities.
* Clear, compassionate, and culturally sensitive communication style.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
* Commitment to evidence-based medicine, ethical practice, and continuous clinical improvement.
* Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
