Position Overview

The Consultant Pediatric ENT Surgeon will provide specialized diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for infants, children, and adolescents with congenital and acquired ear, nose, throat, airway, hearing, and related conditions.

This position requires extensive pediatric otolaryngology experience, advanced surgical competence, and a family-centered approach. The consultant will manage routine and complex cases while collaborating with pediatricians, audiologists, speech therapists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals.

Role Summary

The Consultant Pediatric ENT Surgeon will assess and treat children with a broad range of otolaryngological disorders in Dubai. The


clinical caseload may include recurrent tonsillitis, adenoid enlargement, hearing impairment, chronic ear disease, sinus disorders, airway conditions, congenital abnormalities, and other complex pediatric ENT presentations.

The consultant will conduct specialist evaluations, interpret diagnostic findings, recommend individualized treatment, and perform appropriate surgical procedures. The role also includes postoperative management, second-opinion consultations, family counseling, clinical governance, and supervision of junior medical personnel.

Key Responsibilities

* Assess, diagnose, and manage congenital and acquired ear, nose, throat, airway, and related conditions in pediatric patients.
* Conduct detailed consultations and obtain age-appropriate medical histories from patients, parents, and caregivers.
* Perform comprehensive ENT examinations and develop individualized investigation and treatment plans.
* Diagnose and treat common and complex pediatric ear diseases, hearing disorders, nasal conditions, sinus problems, and throat disorders.
* Perform tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, endoscopic sinus surgery, and other pediatric ENT procedures within the consultant\'s clinical privileges.
* Evaluate children requiring operative treatment and complete detailed preoperative assessments.
* Provide postoperative monitoring, follow-up care, and timely management of surgical complications.
* Request and interpret audiograms, CT scans, MRI examinations, laboratory results, and other relevant investigations.
* Assess hearing difficulties and coordinate further evaluation with audiology specialists.
* Provide consultations and expert second opinions for complex pediatric otolaryngology cases.
* Identify conditions requiring multidisciplinary management and arrange appropriate referrals.
* Collaborate with audiologists, speech and language therapists, pediatricians, anesthetists, radiologists, nurses, and other specialists.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to coordinated care planning.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment options, surgical procedures, possible risks, and anticipated outcomes to parents and caregivers.
* Provide clear postoperative instructions and guidance on medication, recovery, warning signs, and follow-up.
* Maintain complete, accurate, confidential, and timely patient records.
* Follow applicable healthcare regulations, hospital policies, ethical standards, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety requirements.
* Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, quality improvement programs, and Continuing Medical Education activities.
* Remain current with developments, techniques, and evidence-based guidelines in pediatric otolaryngology.
* Supervise, mentor, and support junior doctors and medical students when required.

Required Skills and Experience

* MBBS, MD, or an equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Completion of accredited specialist training in Otolaryngology or ENT Surgery.
* Recognized board certification, fellowship, or equivalent professional qualification in Otolaryngology.
* Fellowship training or board-recognized subspecialization in Pediatric ENT is preferred.
* Western medical training and specialist credentials are required.
* Minimum of 5 years of post-specialization experience, with substantial exposure to pediatric ENT cases.
* Eligibility for or possession of the appropriate consultant-level medical license in the United Arab Emirates.
* Proven competence in pediatric otolaryngological diagnosis, treatment planning, and surgery.
* Experience performing tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, and endoscopic sinus procedures.
* Strong ability to interpret audiology findings and radiological investigations.
* Sound clinical judgment when managing complex or time-sensitive pediatric cases.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with children, parents, and caregivers.
* Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare teams.
* Commitment to evidence-based medicine, ethical practice, child safeguarding, and continuous professional development.
* Fluency in English is required.
* Arabic language proficiency is an advantage.
