The position focuses on the diagnosis and management of depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, PTSD, and other psychiatric conditions. The consultant will work closely with psychologists, neurologists, primary care physicians, social workers, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe recovery, long-term mental wellness, and high-quality patient outcomes.

Role Context
The Consultant Psychiatrist - Arabic Speaker provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for adults with a wide range of mental health disorders. The role requires strong clinical judgment, careful risk assessment, medication management expertise, therapeutic communication, and the ability to support patients across both acute and long-term care needs.
This position has strong clinical value because Arabic-speaking patients and families often need clear, culturally aligned communication when discussing sensitive mental health concerns, treatment options, medication plans, crisis support, and recovery expectations. The consultant will contribute to a confidential, ethical, and patient-centered mental health service.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess, diagnose, and manage psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, PTSD, and other mental health conditions.
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, including clinical history, mental state examination, risk assessment, diagnostic formulation, and care planning.
* Develop individualized treatment plans using evidence-based psychiatric practice, patient needs, family context, medication history, and long-term recovery goals.
* Provide pharmacological treatment, psychotherapy support, counselling, behavioral interventions, and structured follow-up where clinically appropriate.
* Manage inpatient and outpatient psychiatric cases with attention to safety, confidentiality, continuity of care, and measurable treatment progress.
* Provide crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care for patients experiencing acute distress, deterioration, behavioral risk, or urgent mental health needs.
* Collaborate with psychologists, neurologists, primary care physicians, social workers, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to deliver coordinated mental health care.
* Educate patients and families in Arabic and English regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medication use, relapse prevention, coping strategies, and preventive mental healthcare.
* Maintain accurate medical documentation, psychiatric notes, treatment plans, consent records, risk assessments, and follow-up reports.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement projects, research activity, case reviews, and continuing medical education programs.
* Ensure patient confidentiality, ethical practice, safeguarding awareness, professional conduct, and adherence to mental health best practices.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Board certification, fellowship, or equivalent specialist qualification in Psychiatry.
* Active DHA license or eligibility for Dubai Health Authority consultant licensure is preferred.
* Minimum 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Psychiatry within a reputed hospital, clinic, or mental health center.
* Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.
* Strong expertise in adult psychiatry, psychiatric diagnosis, medication management, crisis intervention, inpatient care, outpatient follow-up, and mental health treatment planning.
* Experience in community psychiatry, psychotherapy, behavioral therapy approaches, or multidisciplinary mental health programs is an advantage.
* Ability to work effectively in a multicultural healthcare environment with patients from diverse clinical and cultural backgrounds.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, patient counselling, documentation, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
