Position Overview
The Arabic-speaking Consultant Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for adults experiencing a broad range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions. This senior clinical position requires extensive psychiatric expertise, compassionate patient care, and the ability to communicate fluently in both Arabic and English.
The successful consultant will manage inpatient and outpatient cases, prescribe and monitor psychiatric medication, provide appropriate psychotherapeutic interventions, and respond to mental health emergencies. Close collaboration with psychologists, social workers, neurologists, primary care physicians, and other specialists will support coordinated treatment and better patient outcomes.

Role Summary
The Consultant Psychiatrist will independently evaluate and manage patients with acute, chronic, and complex mental health conditions in Dubai. The caseload may include anxiety disorders, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, psychosis, behavioral conditions, and other psychiatric presentations.
The role combines diagnostic assessment, medication management, psychotherapy, crisis intervention, patient and family education, and long-term treatment planning. Fluency in Arabic is essential for conducting detailed consultations and communicating sensitive clinical information clearly to Arabic-speaking patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric interviews, mental status examinations, risk assessments, and diagnostic evaluations.
* Diagnose and manage anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, personality disorders, psychosis, and related mental health conditions.
* Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical findings, patient needs, medical history, and evidence-based psychiatric practice.
* Prescribe psychiatric medication and monitor therapeutic response, side effects, adherence, and safety.
* Review treatment progress and adjust medication or therapeutic interventions when clinically appropriate.
* Provide psychotherapy, supportive counseling, psychoeducation, and behavioral interventions within the consultant\'s scope of practice.
* Manage psychiatric patients across inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.
* Assess patients presenting with suicidal thoughts, self-harm risks, severe behavioral disturbance, or acute psychiatric deterioration.
* Deliver crisis intervention and emergency psychiatric care when required.
* Coordinate referrals and treatment with psychologists, social workers, neurologists, primary care physicians, nurses, and other healthcare specialists.
* Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, clinical reviews, and complex case discussions.
* Explain diagnoses, treatment choices, medication plans, potential risks, and expected outcomes to patients and families.
* Communicate psychiatric information clearly and sensitively in Arabic or English according to patient needs.
* Educate patients and caregivers about symptom management, relapse prevention, treatment adherence, and mental wellbeing.
* Maintain accurate, confidential, complete, and timely medical documentation.
* Protect patient privacy and comply with professional ethics, consent requirements, and confidentiality standards.
* Follow applicable UAE healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and mental health best practices.
* Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, research, and Continuing Medical Education activities.
* Support the development of safe, culturally responsive, and patient-centered behavioral health services.
Ideal Profile
* MBBS, MD, or an equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
* Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry.
* Board certification, fellowship, or an equivalent recognized specialist qualification in Psychiatry.
* Eligibility for or possession of Consultant Psychiatrist classification and medical licensing in the UAE.
* Minimum of 5-7 years of post-board consultant experience in Psychiatry within a reputable hospital or mental health center.
* Extensive experience in adult psychiatry and comprehensive mental health management.
* Demonstrated ability to manage acute, chronic, and complex psychiatric presentations.
* Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, psychiatric assessment, risk management, and treatment planning.
* Experience providing psychotherapy, counseling, or structured behavioral interventions is preferred.
* Exposure to community psychiatry and multidisciplinary mental health programs is advantageous.
* Ability to respond effectively to psychiatric emergencies and behavioral crises.
* Excellent patient counseling, interpersonal communication, and clinical decision-making abilities.
* Capacity to work effectively in a multicultural and multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
* Academic teaching, clinical research, or service-development experience is an advantage.
* Commitment to ethical practice, patient confidentiality, evidence-based medicine, and continuous learning.
* Fluency in spoken and written Arabic is mandatory.
* Fluency in English is mandatory.
