Role
The Pediatric Psychiatrist - Arabic will provide specialist mental health care for children and adolescents facing emotional, behavioral, developmental, and psychiatric challenges. The role is important for early identification, accurate diagnosis, individualized treatment planning, family education, and long-term mental wellness support. Because many patients and families are native Arabic speakers, the physician must be able to communicate with empathy, cultural awareness, and clinical clarity in both Arabic and English while working closely with allied healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments for children and adolescents using clinical interviews, developmental history, family input, behavioral observation, and structured diagnostic review.
* Diagnose and manage pediatric mental health conditions including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, behavioral concerns, attention-related difficulties, trauma-related symptoms, emotional regulation issues, and complex child psychiatry presentations.
* Develop individualized treatment plans that may include psychotherapy, medication management, behavioral strategies, family support, school coordination, and follow-up monitoring.
* Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications where appropriate, ensuring safe use, side-effect review, treatment response tracking, and clear family counseling.
* Provide ongoing follow-up to assess clinical progress, treatment adherence, functional improvement, risk status, and evolving patient needs.
* Work collaboratively with psychologists, pediatricians, therapists, nurses, school counselors, social workers, and other multidisciplinary professionals.
* Engage families in care planning by providing education, guidance, and practical support in Arabic and English when needed.
* Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions, care planning meetings, clinical reviews, and coordinated treatment pathways.
* Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in line with DHA regulations, ethical standards, and facility policies.
* Support culturally sensitive communication with children, adolescents, parents, and caregivers from diverse backgrounds.
* Adhere to best clinical practices in child and adolescent psychiatry, including patient safety, confidentiality, informed consent, safeguarding awareness, and ethical care.
* Contribute to a supportive clinical environment focused on compassionate care, early intervention, family confidence, and improved pediatric mental health outcomes.
Ideal Profile
* CCT in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry is required.
* DHA licensure, DHA Eligibility Letter, or eligibility to obtain DHA licensure is required.
* Fluency in Arabic is essential.
* Strong English communication skills are required for documentation, clinical coordination, and multidisciplinary communication.
* Proven experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical mental health setting.
* Strong diagnostic, clinical, interpersonal, and family counseling skills.
* Experience supporting Arabic-speaking families or working in the Middle East will be an advantage.
* Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team involving psychology, pediatrics, therapy, nursing, and school-linked support services.
