The Associate HSES Specialist provides visible frontline safety support within operational work areas, helping translate HSES policies and regulatory requirements into practical daily behavior.
The position requires frequent interaction with supervisors, workers, and operational teams. By observing work practices, identifying hazards, coaching personnel, monitoring equipment condition, and escalating unresolved issues, the specialist contributes directly to injury prevention and safer project execution.
The role also supports emergency preparedness and formal HSES processes through incident investigation assistance, firefighting and lifesaving equipment monitoring, safety communications, toolbox talks, and emergency response activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide visible HSES leadership to field personnel and reinforce expected standards of safe behavior.
* Support HSES Specialists and Supervisors in implementing project and company safety programs.
* Maintain working knowledge of current HSES policies, procedures, operational requirements, and applicable regulations.
* Ensure company HSE policies and procedures are communicated and implemented consistently across assigned work areas.
* Help employees understand their responsibilities under established safety procedures.
* Conduct regular inspections of work areas to identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and emerging operational hazards.
* Take immediate action where hazards can be corrected safely and within assigned authority.
* Escalate unresolved safety concerns to relevant supervisors or line management.
* Observe work groups during routine and higher-risk activities.
* Intervene when unsafe behavior is identified and provide practical guidance on safer work methods.
* Advise supervisors of repeated or significant unsafe acts requiring additional management attention.
* Coach workers on safe execution practices while maintaining constructive communication.
* Monitor compliance with required personal protective equipment and workplace controls.
* Assist with incident and near-miss investigations.
* Support collection of facts, observations, statements, and other information required for investigation reports.
* Contribute to identification of immediate and underlying causes of HSES incidents.
* Assist in preparing accurate incident investigation documentation and follow-up records.
* Monitor inspection and maintenance status of lifesaving equipment.
* Verify firefighting equipment is appropriately maintained, inspected, and ready for use.
* Report expired, damaged, missing, or unserviceable emergency equipment for corrective action.
* Support emergency preparedness activities and participate in emergency response when required.
* Assist with medical evacuation coordination and medivac activities.
* Respond promptly to emergency situations according to established site procedures and assigned responsibilities.
* Monitor plant and mobile equipment conditions, including cranes, forklifts, and similar operational assets.

* Support communication of HSES performance results, statistics, critical notices, and management safety messages.
* Ensure important safety communications are displayed on HSES notice boards where required.

* Encourage personnel participation and clarification during safety briefings.

* Maintain awareness of local and international HSES laws, codes, regulations, and recognized industry practices.
* Assist with HSES inspections, audits, and compliance reviews when assigned.

Candidates should understand the practical application of Health, Safety, Environment, and Security procedures in active operational environments.
Working knowledge of local and international HSES legislation, regulations, codes, and recognized safety standards is important.
