Role Context
The AUT Inspector - Data Interpretation will support advanced weld and material inspection activities by reviewing data collected through Automated Ultrasonic Testing systems. The role is important for confirming weld integrity, identifying discontinuities, evaluating defect characteristics, and ensuring inspection results are properly documented before acceptance or further technical review.
This position contributes to reliable project delivery by combining AUT inspection experience, data interpretation, calibration awareness, metrology, technical drawing reading, problem-solving, and disciplined quality control practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Analyze and interpret data collected from Automated Ultrasonic Testing inspections of welds and materials.
* Identify defects, discontinuities, indications, and material concerns based on AUT inspection results.
* Assess defect size, position, depth, location, and relevance against applicable acceptance criteria.
* Verify inspection findings against approved codes, standards, client specifications, and project quality requirements.
* Review AUT scan data, technical records, calibration details, and inspection documentation for accuracy.
* Support quality control activities by ensuring inspection results are complete, traceable, and technically reliable.
* Read and interpret technical drawings, weld maps, inspection plans, and project specifications.
* Apply measurement techniques, calibration awareness, and metrology principles during inspection review.
* Prepare inspection reports, data interpretation summaries, technical observations, and corrective action notes.
* Coordinate with NDT teams, welding inspectors, QA-QC personnel, project teams, and client representatives.
* Identify documentation gaps, technical deviations, or reporting errors and recommend practical corrective action.
* Maintain strong inspection discipline while completing assigned review work within project timelines.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
* 10-12 years of experience in AUT inspection, NDT inspection, welding inspection, or quality control.
* Strong experience in analyzing and interpreting Automated Ultrasonic Testing data for welds and materials.
* CSWIP, ISO 9712, or equivalent certification is required or strongly preferred.
* Good understanding of applicable inspection codes, standards, and client specification requirements.
* Strong knowledge of AUT inspection, quality control, measurement techniques, calibration, and metrology.
* Ability to read technical drawings, weld maps, inspection records, and project documentation accurately.
* Good problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail during defect assessment and report review.
* Clear communication skills for coordination with inspection teams, clients, and QA-QC departments.
* Ability to work in oil and gas project environments while maintaining safety, quality, and technical accuracy.
