Role Context
The Civil Supervisor - Plant Maintenance will support safe and continuous plant operations by planning, executing, and supervising civil maintenance tasks across industrial facilities. The position manages civil work orders, contractor service requests, shutdown support, material readiness, site inspections, testing, commissioning, and maintenance documentation. By coordinating resources, monitoring job progress, preparing scopes of work, and enforcing safe work practices, the role helps reduce maintenance backlog, improve work quality, and maintain civil asset reliability in a demanding Oil and Energy environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Process civil work orders to control maintenance backlog and ensure required resources are available for safe and timely job completion.
* Plan, schedule, execute, and supervise civil maintenance works to support plant reliability, availability, and safe operations.
* Initiate and process service requests for on-call civil contractors during operating needs, emergencies, planned shutdowns, and unplanned shutdowns.
* Inspect civil work progress in the field and provide clear reports on job status, quality, safety, and completion timelines.
* Provide technical support for civil maintenance issues, repair requirements, site concerns, and execution challenges.
* Prepare scopes of work, contract inputs, cost reports, repair documentation, and technical requirements for civil maintenance activities.
* Participate in repair-related discussions and negotiations to ensure required standards, cost effectiveness, and practical execution.
* Provide input for critical maintenance procedures and risk assessments related to civil tasks.
* Investigate major civil maintenance issues, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate control measures.
* Maintain updated maintenance records, fault reports, logbooks, and work completion documentation.
* Conduct and participate in daily and weekly safety toolbox talks covering job hazards, safe methods, and task execution plans.
* Supervise testing and commissioning of new or modified civil works, equipment interfaces, or related systems.
* Ensure repairs, installations, and commissioning activities follow approved methods, safety requirements, and technical procedures.
* Inspect work areas to confirm safe working conditions before and during civil maintenance activities.
* Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition to support routine maintenance, emergency repairs, and uninterrupted field execution.
* Monitor inventory of civil materials, tools, parts, and consumables required for scheduled jobs.
* Prepare lists of spares, tools, materials, and resources required for civil works.
* Raise purchase requisitions and material requisitions for civil maintenance jobs.
* Inspect newly received materials to verify specifications, suitability, and compliance with required standards.
* Coordinate with operations, maintenance planning, procurement, stores, contractors, and technical teams to support smooth civil maintenance delivery.
* Ensure civil works comply with company procedures, safety standards, permit requirements, quality expectations, and industrial maintenance practices.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 5 years of experience in a supervisory role for civil maintenance activities within a large industrial organization.
* Experience in the Oil and Energy sector or oil and gas plant environment is preferred.
* Strong understanding of civil maintenance execution, work order management, contractor coordination, repair planning, and site supervision.
* Practical knowledge of industrial civil works, plant maintenance requirements, shutdown support, emergency maintenance, and field safety practices.
* Ability to prepare scopes of work, technical repair inputs, cost reports, contracts support documents, and maintenance procedures.
* Experience conducting task risk assessments, investigating maintenance issues, identifying root causes, and recommending control measures.
* Good knowledge of materials control, spare parts planning, tool readiness, purchase requisitions, material requisitions, and specification checks.
* Able to supervise testing, commissioning, repairs, installations, and civil maintenance activities in line with approved methods.
* Strong safety awareness with the ability to conduct toolbox talks and inspect work areas for safe conditions.
* Good coordination skills for working with operations, contractors, procurement, stores, maintenance teams, and engineering support functions.
* Detail-focused approach to maintenance records, fault reports, logbooks, work progress reports, and quality follow-up.
* Able to work in plant environments and support planned shutdowns, unplanned shutdowns, emergency civil works, and routine maintenance priorities.
