Overview of the Role
The Sales Assistant contributes directly to store performance by engaging customers, supporting purchasing decisions, and helping achieve sales targets. An important part of
the position is maintaining an organised and welcoming retail environment while ensuring customers receive accurate, relevant product information throughout their visit.
The role also involves operational responsibilities assigned by store management and requires consistent adherence to housekeeping, dress code, and visual presentation standards.
What You Will Do
* Maintain store cleanliness and presentation standards to provide customers with an organised and welcoming shopping environment.
* Create a positive first impression through an energetic, professional approach and adherence to the required dress code.
* Greet customers promptly and courteously when they enter the store.
* Provide current and relevant information about available products.
* Assist customers in fitting rooms and provide timely follow-up during their shopping experience.
* Identify appropriate opportunities to add complementary products to a sale.
* Deliver efficient service at the cash wrap and keep the checkout area clean and organised.
* Offer gift cards where appropriate and capture relevant customer information in the store database.
* Thank customers when they leave the store and encourage them to visit again.
* Complete additional store operational duties assigned by the management team.
Required Skills
The position requires a strong customer-service orientation and the ability to manage several tasks effectively within an active retail environment. Candidates should have good verbal communication skills and sufficient physical stamina to remain standing for extended periods and perform some heavy lifting.
The role also requires proficiency with computer-aided design and design software. Relevant applications identified for the position include AutoCAD, SketchUp, Illustrator, and Photoshop for preparing visuals and plans.
