Role Context
The Electrical Engineer - Maintenance Reliability will support technical and operational safety by planning, supervising, and improving maintenance activities for electrical equipment across plant facilities and distribution networks. The position combines condition monitoring, SRCM, safety audits, shutdown planning, high voltage switching supervision, risk assessment, root cause analysis, spare parts planning, technical reporting, and project support. By applying modern maintenance practices and strong engineering judgment, the role helps minimize downtime, improve equipment performance, and protect the integrity of critical electrical assets.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate electrical maintenance activities for production facilities and distribution networks to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.
* Develop and carry out predictive maintenance and Reliability Centered Maintenance programs for condition monitoring of electrical equipment.
* Improve electrical equipment availability and power system reliability through structured inspection, monitoring, analysis, and corrective action.
* Conduct internal safety audits for plant electrical installations and develop action plans for area maintenance engineers.
* Prepare predictive, preventive, modification, and major shutdown maintenance programs for electrical equipment across the plant.
* Review periodic and shutdown work plans and coordinate their execution with other sections to ensure smooth maintenance delivery.
* Participate in technological upgrades of obsolete electrical equipment and support preparation and execution of Plant Change Requests.
* Carry out detailed engineering for capital, Extra Ordinary Maintenance, and Major Maintenance activities.
* Prepare scopes of work, technical evaluations, execution plans, and supporting documentation for electrical maintenance and project work.
* Review existing maintenance practices and support implementation of modern methods that improve productivity, reliability, and equipment performance.
* Ensure effective use of the maintenance management system for job history, data quality, maintenance records, and reliable information retrieval.
* Supervise high voltage switching activities in line with approved policies, procedures, and safe operating requirements.
* Prepare method statements for critical electrical jobs and verify procedures, instructions, contract scopes, and service work orders.
* Participate in technical evaluation of bids and inspect received materials to ensure required specifications and quality standards are met.
* Provide technical support for development, implementation, commissioning, electrical design, and specification review of new projects.
* Ensure new project electrical designs and specifications optimize cost while complying with applicable standards, engineering practices, and best practices.
* Verify that company codes, regulations, engineering practices, and maintenance standards are followed by section employees.
* Ensure availability, reliability, and integrity of plant electrical equipment using sound maintenance techniques and engineering practices.
* Conduct risk assessments, root cause analysis, safety reviews, advanced safety audits, and advanced maintenance audits.
* Prepare reports and recommendations to support corrective actions, reliability improvement, and safe maintenance execution.
* Participate in RCA meetings and technical discussions to prevent recurrence of plant trips and resolve recurring electrical issues.
* Support the Manager, Electrical Maintenance in formulating spare parts requirements and ensuring availability of materials needed for planned maintenance.
* Perform periodic review of material stocks in coordination with Inventory and Warehouse Department and Procurement Department.
* Liaise with planning, scheduling, and turnaround teams during shutdown preparation and review method statements to achieve quality execution.
* Review shutdown schedules and provide recommendations to avoid unnecessary delays in handover or commissioning of electrical equipment.
* Apply appropriate knowledge and responsibility toward technical and operational integrity processes.
* Delegate work responsibilities, support development of subordinates, and act as Manager, Electrical Maintenance when required.
* Prepare technical reports, maintenance recommendations, performance updates, and improvement proposals for management review.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
* Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical maintenance within the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.
* Strong specialization in electrical maintenance for production facilities, plant electrical systems, and distribution networks.
* Practical experience with electrical condition monitoring, SRCM, predictive maintenance, preventive maintenance, shutdown maintenance, and reliability improvement.
* Strong knowledge of high voltage switching, electrical safety audits, risk assessment, root cause analysis, and safe isolation practices.
* Experience in design, installation, and commissioning support for DCS, ESD, PLC, electrical upgrades, and plant modification projects.
* Ability to prepare scopes of work, method statements, technical evaluations, bid reviews, service work orders, and engineering reports.
* Good understanding of maintenance systems, job history quality, data accuracy, spare parts planning, inventory review, and procurement coordination.
* Strong awareness of technical integrity, operational integrity, company engineering standards, and electrical maintenance best practices.
* Experience supporting capital, Extra Ordinary Maintenance, Major Maintenance, turnaround, and shutdown execution activities.
* Good knowledge of business processes, maintenance planning, scheduling, quality assurance, and plant handover requirements.
* Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
* Good interpersonal, people management, coordination, and team collaboration skills.
