What Does a Structural Engineer Do?
A Structural Engineer is responsible for designing and analyzing offshore structures, ensuring compliance with FEED and detailed engineering standards in the oil and gas sector. This role requires expertise in structural integrity, load analysis, and material selection for offshore installations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for offshore platforms, jackets, and subsea structures
- Ensure compliance with EPC/EPCI offshore industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with FEED and detailed engineering teams to develop structural solutions
- Conduct load assessments, fatigue analysis, and material evaluations
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize structural integrity and safety
- Use advanced structural engineering software to design and evaluate offshore components
- Provide technical reports and documentation to support project execution
- Review and approve structural designs in coordination with EPC contractors
What Skills Are Needed for a Structural Engineer in Abu Dhabi?
- 5+ years of experience in structural engineering for offshore EPC/EPCI oil and gas projects
- Experience working with FEED and detailed engineering processes
- Bachelor\'s degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering
- Strong knowledge of offshore structural codes, standards, and regulations
- Proficiency in structural analysis software and engineering tools
- Experience with leading EPC contractors such as McDermott, L&T, Petrofac, or similar companies
