Role Context
The Field Engineer supports the safe and effective execution of offshore installation work by translating engineering requirements into practical field procedures, vessel layouts, loadout plans, material requirements, and execution sequences. The position acts as an important link between engineering teams and offshore operations, helping ensure that equipment, structures, personnel, documentation, and installation methods are ready before mobilization.
During offshore execution, the engineer monitors progress, responds to technical challenges, coordinates field changes, communicates with customer and subcontractor representatives, and provides accurate documentation for project completion and as-built records.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure field and offshore activities are performed in accordance with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment requirements, company procedures, and approved project documentation.
* Travel offshore and to onshore construction or fabrication locations as required for project execution.
* Review engineering drawings, procedures, and technical documents and identify discrepancies, omissions, or information gaps that could affect field activities.
* Recommend practical changes to drawings and technical details where modifications can improve installation safety, execution clarity, or constructability.
* Prepare offshore installation procedures defining work methods, execution techniques, activity sequences, temporary works, installation aids, and required consumables.
* Develop vessel layouts and barge loadout plans for transporting structures, equipment, line pipe, materials, and installation resources offshore.
* Confirm that proposed installation activities remain within the operational capabilities and limitations of available vessels, equipment, tools, and lifting systems.
* Participate in constructability reviews, readiness reviews, Hazard Identification studies, Job Safety Analysis sessions, and other project risk assessments.
* Follow through on agreed recommendations and support their implementation before offshore execution.
* Prepare material lists covering construction materials, installation aids, temporary works, and project consumables.
* Coordinate procurement requirements with the project coordinator to support timely material availability.
* Prepare loadout lists in accordance with project requirements and established company practices.
* Coordinate with Marine, Electrical and Mechanical, Welding, Quality, HSES, Survey, ROV, Diving, Production Engineering, and subcontractor teams for offshore readiness.
* Verify that required personnel, equipment, tools, materials, and support services are available before mobilization.
* Witness and inspect pre-rigging, loadout, and sea-fastening activities.
* Confirm receipt and readiness of fabricated structures, line pipes, equipment, and materials scheduled for offshore installation.
* Develop field inspection checklists and verify loadouts in line with company procedures.
* Work with Production Engineers to confirm fabricated items included in project loadouts.
* Coordinate with logistics personnel regarding the movement of materials, structures, and equipment by ship, barge, truck, or other approved transportation methods.
* Liaise with customer representatives, subcontractor personnel, offshore supervisors, and Operations Engineers during project execution.
* Monitor offshore work progress, vessel activities, site conditions, and installation sequence.
* Advise the Operations Engineer of developments that may affect project scope, schedule, installation methodology, or execution sequence.
* Conduct work scope presentations for offshore personnel covering technical, contractual, planning, safety, and execution requirements.
* Issue field sketches, technical data sheets, checklists, and other execution information when required at site.
* Assist in resolving technical issues encountered during offshore installation.
* Support preparation and implementation of corrective actions when execution problems or field deviations occur.
* Prepare post-job completion reports in accordance with company procedures.
* Compile as-built drawings, installation records, checklists, field documentation, and final project records required under the approved scope and contract.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
* 3-5 years of offshore installation or offshore construction experience.
* Practical understanding of offshore project execution and marine installation activities.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD or comparable engineering drawing software.
* Familiarity with offshore construction drawings, installation procedures, vessel layouts, loadouts, and field documentation.
* Basic experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related productivity applications.
* Exposure to 3D engineering or design software is advantageous.
* Strong analytical ability with confidence in resolving practical field engineering issues.
* Able to interpret engineering requirements and convert them into safe and workable offshore execution methods.
