The Field Engineer helps convert engineering plans into workable offshore installation activities. The position supports execution readiness by reviewing drawings, preparing procedures, planning vessel and barge loadouts, coordinating materials and personnel, and ensuring that proposed installation methods remain within the capability of available equipment.
During field execution, the engineer monitors offshore progress, assists with technical problem-solving, communicates changes that may affect schedule or work sequence, and maintains accurate completion and as-built documentation.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure offshore and field activities comply with Quality, Health, Safety and Environment policies, procedures, and approved project requirements.
* Travel offshore and to onshore construction or fabrication sites whenever required for project execution.
* Review technical drawings, installation documents, and project information to identify discrepancies, omissions, or unclear requirements.
* Recommend technical changes where improved details can enhance safe execution, constructability, or clarity of installation procedures.
* Prepare offshore installation procedures defining work methods, execution techniques, sequences, temporary works, installation aids, and required consumables.
* Develop vessel layouts and barge loadout plans for the transportation of offshore structures, line pipe, equipment, and materials.
* Verify that planned work can be completed safely within the operational limits of the proposed vessels, lifting systems, tools, and equipment.
* Participate in constructability reviews, project readiness reviews, Hazard Identification studies, and Job Safety Analysis activities.
* Help implement recommendations arising from readiness, constructability, and safety reviews.
* Prepare material lists covering construction materials, temporary works, installation aids, and project consumables.
* Coordinate procurement requirements with project personnel to support timely mobilization.
* Issue loadout lists in accordance with approved engineering and project practices.
* Coordinate offshore scope requirements with Marine, Electrical and Mechanical, Welding, Quality, HSES, Survey, ROV, Diving, Production Engineering, and subcontractor teams.
* Confirm that required equipment, materials, and personnel are available and ready before offshore deployment.
* Witness and inspect pre-rigging, loadout, and sea-fastening activities.
* Verify receipt and readiness of fabricated structures, line pipes, and other items scheduled for offshore installation.
* Prepare field inspection checklists and carry out loadout checks in line with company procedures.
* Coordinate with Production Engineers to verify fabricated items included in project loadouts.
* Work with logistics teams to plan and confirm movement of materials, structures, and equipment by barge, vessel, truck, or other transportation methods.
* Liaise with customer representatives, subcontractor personnel, offshore teams, and the Operations Engineer during execution.
* Monitor progress, field conditions, and offshore installation activities against the approved plan.
* Report developments that may influence project scope, schedule, installation methodology, or execution sequence.
* Present work scopes to key offshore personnel, explaining technical, contractual, planning, and execution requirements.
* Issue field sketches, data sheets, checklists, and other supporting technical information when needed.
* Assist in resolving technical issues encountered during offshore installation.
* Support development of corrective actions for field problems, deviations, or installation challenges.
* Prepare post-job completion reports in accordance with company procedures.
* Compile as-built documentation, installation records, field reports, and contractually required closeout information.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s Degree in Engineering.
* 3-5 years of offshore installation experience.
* Practical understanding of offshore engineering and project execution.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar engineering drawing applications.
