GIS Network Modeling Specialist in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy opportunity for a technical professional experienced in geospatial information systems, natural gas network modeling, GIS database development, as-built records, utility coordination, and project support. The role supports natural gas distribution projects by building and maintaining accurate network models, processing spatial data, producing maps, administering modeling records, and coordinating with internal teams, contractors, consultants, developers, government authorities, and utility organizations.
Role Context
The GIS Network Modeling Specialist will help strengthen the accuracy, reliability, and coordination of natural gas distribution network data across design, analysis, reinforcement, customer connection, alteration, and project delivery activities. This position directly supports timely project execution by maintaining GIS databases, verifying third-party inputs, managing as-built drawings, administering network modeling systems, and ensuring that project coordination procedures are aligned with ADNOC Group guidelines, company standards, and best industry practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide professional support for the development of GIS and natural gas network modeling database designs.
* Build and update databases from imagery, cartographic sources, digital records, as-built drawings, and project documentation.
* Perform basic and advanced processing tasks using network modeling tools, GIS platforms, and related modeling extensions.
* Use tools such as ArcGIS and SynerGEE to support natural gas network design, analysis, reinforcement, and planning activities.
* Retrieve input data, process geospatial information, and produce maps, reports, and technical outputs when required.
* Enter, update, and maintain database records for natural gas network design, analysis, reinforcements, new customer connections, and alterations.
* Establish, modify, and maintain natural gas network design model databases within SynerGEE or similar modeling systems.
* Review data entry in network modeling systems to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
* Operate company information technology systems, including asset databases and related network records platforms.
* Administer the entry and retrieval processes of network modeling systems and verify inputs received from third parties.
* Retrieve network data and manage daily requirements for records, archiving, drawings, and documentation control.
* Check and maintain contractor record submissions and provide network records or technical data when required.
* Maintain all as-built drawings, network modeling records, GIS layers, and natural gas design records for project and operational use.
* Participate in natural gas distribution network design activities using approved software tools.
* Support the preparation of budget packages related to natural gas network design and project planning.
* Develop, manage, and maintain external coordination procedures for the Natural Gas Division.
* Coordinate with developers, government authorities, utility organizations, contractors, consultants, and suppliers in line with approved procedures.
* Ensure coordination activities comply with company policies, project standards, ADNOC Group guidelines, and applicable regulations.
* Participate in interface engineering activities carried out by PMT, PMC discipline engineers, and EPC contractors.
* Work closely with project engineers to identify interface requirements and support smooth project execution.
* Attend meetings, contribute technical updates, and follow up on assigned action items related to network modeling and coordination.
* Carry out duties according to company specifications, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
* Ensure all activities comply with Health, Safety and Environment policies and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned activities to meet section and project objectives.
* Train and develop assigned staff to improve GIS, modeling, records management, and coordination capability.
* Provide input for department or section budgets and support implementation of approved work plans.
* Investigate and highlight significant budget or performance variances to support cost control.
* Implement approved policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in line with company and international standards.
* Identify improvements in GIS workflows, network modeling methods, coordination procedures, and records management practices.
* Design and apply tools or techniques that improve data quality, process efficiency, and project coordination.
* Provide inputs for MIS reports, progress reports, and management updates.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor Degree or Diploma in GIS, Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, Information Systems, Utilities Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
* Practical experience in GIS database development, network modeling, utility mapping, natural gas distribution, or infrastructure project coordination.
* Knowledge of geospatial information systems, cartographic data, imagery interpretation, digital mapping, and asset database management.
* Experience using ArcGIS, SynerGEE, or similar network modeling and GIS software.
* Ability to build, modify, maintain, and validate natural gas network design model databases.
* Understanding of natural gas distribution networks, as-built records, design analysis, reinforcements, customer connections, and network alterations.
* Experience reviewing contractor submissions, third-party data, network records, maps, and project documentation.
* Ability to support interface engineering and coordinate with PMT, PMC, EPC contractors, consultants, and project teams.
* Knowledge of external coordination procedures involving developers, government authorities, utility authorities, contractors, and suppliers.
* Strong attention to detail in data entry, records administration, document control, and technical verification.
* Understanding of HSE policies, sustainability guidelines, company procedures, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Strong communication, coordination, reporting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to work with line managers, peers, ADNOC City Gas departments, ADNOC Group Companies, contractors, consultants, and external agencies.
