Role Context

The Inspection Engineer - Static Equipment will support plant safety and reliability by executing on-stream and shutdown inspection activities for stationary equipment, pressure relieving devices, pipelines, piping systems, corrosion monitoring programs, and failure investigations. The role requires strong technical knowledge of inspection engineering, metallurgy, welding, QA/QC, API codes, NDT methods, RBI planning, coating systems, failure analysis, and Inspection Data Management Systems. By reviewing inspection reports, recommending repairs, supporting PSSR, and ensuring effective follow-up of integrity actions, the position helps protect asset reliability and prevent operational interruptions.

Key Responsibilities

* Carry out inspection and testing of static equipment, piping systems, and plant components to assess safety, integrity, reliability, and continued operational suitability.
* Execute on-stream and shutdown inspection activities for stationary equipment, pressure relieving devices, piping, corrosion monitoring points, and related static assets.
* Review corrosion inhibitor residual analysis reports and recommend necessary actions to manage corrosion risks.
* Identify areas of concern affecting equipment integrity and propose practical remedial actions.
* Follow up recommended actions to ensure timely resolution, safe operation, and continuity of planned plant activities.
* Implement 5-year inspection plans based on API RBI, inspection policy, asset criticality, and static equipment condition.
* Assess critical static equipment and piping conditions and recommend actions to ensure reliability, quality assurance, and operational readiness.
* Review integrity and inspection assessment reports and advise on repair techniques, material selection, welding procedures, inspection requirements, and testing methods.
* Participate in Pre Start Up Safety Reviews after shutdowns to verify work completion, safety compliance, and plant readiness for start-up.
* Review painting and coating systems, analyze coating failures, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
* Supervise and participate in non-destructive testing of static equipment and piping systems.
* Review preliminary and final interpretations of NDT results and ensure inspection findings are technically accurate.
* Review project FEED proposals, designs, and technical documents related to material selection, corrosion control, static equipment, and mechanical integrity.
* Review QA/QC documents, inspection documents, method statements, and execution records during project implementation.
* Follow up raised technical and inspection-related items until closure.
* Prepare inspection activity scopes of work, method statements, job plans, inspection test plans, and inspection procedures.
* Produce inspection reports for procured materials, static assets, and components in line with technical specifications and quality requirements.
* Participate in failure analysis, root cause analysis, internal audits, and external audits to support asset quality assurance and continuous plant operations.
* Review inspection reports and certificates for portable equipment similar to static assets when mobilized by external contractors for plant work.
* Prepare reports using the Inspection Data Management System to support maintenance, integrity, and management decision-making.
* Apply inspection codes, standards, procedures, and plant integrity requirements during inspection planning and execution.
* Coordinate with operations, maintenance, engineering, projects, QA/QC teams, contractors, and inspection service providers to ensure safe and effective inspection delivery.
* Maintain accurate inspection records, examination findings, technical reports, certificates, and asset integrity data.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
* Minimum 6 years of experience leading plant inspection activities within a large industrial organization.
* Experience in the Oil and Energy sector or oil and gas plant environment is preferred.
* Strong understanding of inspection engineering development and implementation for oil and gas facilities.
* Good understanding of engineering disciplines, risk management, loss prevention, mechanical integrity, and plant reliability practices.
* Working knowledge of design, manufacture, metallurgy, welding, inspection standards, and legislation associated with plant equipment inspection.
* Working knowledge of QA/QC systems, procedures, inspection test plans, method statements, and project quality documentation.
* Strong technical ability in interpreting codes, standards, inspection methods, test results, integrity reports, and equipment condition data.
* Knowledge of visual testing, ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, penetrant testing, radiography testing, phased array ultrasonic testing, and time of flight diffraction.
* Knowledge of NACE painting and cathodic protection practices, National Board Inspection Code, and inspection management systems.
* Good knowledge of API 571, API 580, and API 581.
* API 936 knowledge is preferred.
* Valid API 510, API 570, and API 653 certifications.
* Valid AWS or CSWIP certification.
* Knowledge of HSE procedures, safe inspection practices, shutdown activities, and plant safety requirements.
* Strong planning, organizing, scheduling, coordination, checking, examination, recording, and reporting skills.
* Able to work with maintenance, operations, engineering, project teams, external contractors, and inspection agencies in a structured industrial environment.
