Position Overview
Instrument and Control Maintenance Supervisor in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy maintenance role responsible for planning, supervising, and coordinating maintenance activities for plant instrumentation and control systems. The role supports reliable plant operations through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, equipment testing, start-up support, shutdown coordination, manpower planning, contractor monitoring, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of maintenance execution.
Core Duties
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate maintenance activities for instrument and control systems across the assigned plant area.
* Support operations and maintenance teams during equipment testing, troubleshooting, routine equipment surveillance, and plant start-up activities.
* Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, operations, and maintenance sections to ensure smooth execution of planned maintenance work.
* Provide field technical support during critical maintenance activities to resolve equipment problems with minimum downtime.
* Evaluate, allocate, and arrange manpower for daily preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, and shutdown maintenance plans.
* Assess workload, maintenance backlog, and work plans to support timely completion of agreed maintenance activities.
* Monitor and arrange resources required for effective execution of maintenance plans.
* Ensure availability of required materials, spare parts, consumables, and tools in the correct quality and quantity.
* Conduct and implement root cause analysis for equipment failures and non-scheduled shutdowns.
* Recommend corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability, availability, and operational performance.
* Provide input for major maintenance planning, equipment upgrades, and obsolescence issues for inclusion in five-year rolling business plans.
* Support development, implementation, and commissioning of new projects related to instrument and control systems.
* Provide technical input for design requirements, specifications, standards, and best practice compliance.
* Participate in defining technical requirements, technical bid evaluation, and inspection of received materials.
* Monitor contractor performance for assigned works to ensure required quality, safety, and technical standards.
* Plan, supervise, and coordinate assigned team activities to meet section and maintenance objectives.
* Train and develop staff on relevant technical skills to improve job proficiency and team performance.
* Provide input for department and section budgets and support implementation of approved work plans.
* Investigate and highlight significant variances to support cost control and performance improvement.
* Implement approved policies, systems, processes, standards, and procedures in line with company and international requirements.
* Comply with applicable legislation, legal regulations, HSE policies, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Contribute to approved performance objectives under the company performance framework.
* Identify and implement tools, techniques, and process improvements to enhance maintenance quality and efficiency.
* Provide inputs for section MIS reports, progress reports, and management updates.
* Coordinate with line managers, peers, internal teams, consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies when required.
Candidate Requirements
* Bachelor Degree in Instrumentation and Control, Electronics, or an equivalent professional qualification.
* Minimum 6 years of experience in instrument and control engineering and maintenance within a large industrial organization.
* Previous oil and gas industry experience is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of plant instrument systems, control systems, maintenance execution, and equipment reliability.
* Experience in preventive maintenance, breakdown maintenance, shutdown maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and start-up support.
* Ability to coordinate maintenance activities with operations, mechanical, electrical, contractors, and external service providers.
* Practical experience in root cause analysis, equipment failure investigation, and reliability improvement.
* Knowledge of maintenance planning, workload assessment, backlog monitoring, material control, and spare parts coordination.
* Experience supporting technical bid evaluation, material inspection, commissioning, and contractor performance monitoring.
* Understanding of company maintenance standards, ISO-aligned procedures, HSE requirements, and international maintenance practices.
* Strong supervision, planning, reporting, problem-solving, communication, and team development skills.
* Ability to work mainly in an A/C environment with occasional site exposure to heat, humidity, dust, and prevailing plant weather conditions.
