Role Context
Reliable process-engineering decisions are essential to safe plant operation, efficient project delivery, and long-term facility performance. Design deficiencies or inconsistent technical standards can create operational risk, construction delays, commissioning problems, and avoidable lifecycle costs.
Acting as the company\'s Technical Authority for Process Engineering, the role will provide clear direction when complex issues or technical disputes arise. It will also ensure that key engineering documents, standards, design philosophies, and operating requirements support safe and effective business performance.
Key Responsibilities
The position will combine discipline leadership, engineering assurance, operational support, project consultation, and technical-governance responsibilities.
* Direct, supervise, and coordinate the work of engineers within the Process Engineering discipline.
* Provide technical advice to operations on process performance, safety, reliability, and plant concerns.
* Protect the technical integrity, quality, and timely completion of process-engineering studies.
* Prepare progress and performance-analysis reports for management review.
* Identify problematic areas and recommend practical corrective action.
* Ensure engineering work complies with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
* Support the Process Engineering section in achieving and maintaining ISO certification.
* Review process and control deliverables prepared by EPC contractors.
* Verify that system and equipment designs support safe, accessible, and efficient operation.
* Provide on-site process-engineering consultation during construction activities.
* Support project teams during pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and operational handover.
* Serve as the Technical Authority for Process Engineering across the company.
* Mediate technical disagreements and provide authoritative recommendations to conflicting parties.
* Lead the development and authorization of engineering philosophies, policies, and design-basis documents.
* Provide process-engineering expertise for operational assets, major projects, brownfield work, and new-field developments.
* Develop and review process-engineering standards, codes of practice, and technical specifications.
* Ensure technical requirements reflect current legislation, recognized good practice, and lessons learned.
* Identify new technologies and engineering improvements that can support business objectives.
* Assess the suitability and potential value of technical innovations before implementation.
* Provide Process Engineering representation for HSE studies, technical reviews, and safety workshops.
* Promote consistent technical decisions across engineering, operations, projects, and contractor teams.
Ideal Profile
Applicants should hold a bachelor\'s degree in Chemical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline and have at least eight years of relevant professional experience.
The successful candidate will possess substantial process-engineering knowledge across plant operations, technical studies, design assurance, EPC projects, construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning. Experience leading engineers and providing senior technical guidance is essential.
Candidates should understand regulatory requirements, ISO systems, engineering standards, HSE studies, equipment operability, and technical-document governance. Strong analytical judgement, report writing, stakeholder influence, and the ability to resolve complex engineering disputes are required. Applicable professional certifications will provide an advantage.
