Role Context
Material selection and corrosion control influence equipment life, project quality and


uninterrupted production. This position will connect lessons from metallurgical investigations with pre-FEED, FEED and EPC requirements while monitoring existing plant condition. The engineer will also coordinate inspection access, welding qualification and cathodic-protection activities across projects, modifications and turnarounds.

Key Responsibilities
Technical decisions must protect asset integrity while maintaining consistent material and inspection standards throughout the project life cycle.

* Provide specialist advice on project materials management and metallurgical requirements.
* Review and endorse material plans prepared during pre-FEED and FEED.
* Evaluate proposed EPC specification changes before project implementation.
* Promote consistent use of approved technical standards across company developments.
* Coordinate with end users to determine suitable materials for business and operating needs.
* Incorporate lessons learned from failures, commissioning and warranty-period performance.
* Apply metallurgical investigation findings when improving company material specifications.
* Maintain current design specifications for materials used by contractors.
* Ensure revised specifications are published online and available without delay.
* Prevent unauthorized contractor deviations from approved material requirements.
* Review new manufacturing technologies and processes proposed by vendors.
* Verify product quality and provide technical approval where requirements are satisfied.
* Evaluate contractor welding technologies and compare the value of proposed alternatives.
* Develop corrosion-monitoring plans and monthly or annual inspection schedules.
* Coordinate scaffolding, insulation removal and crane access with the Plant Availability Division.
* Select testing methods suited to specific materials, equipment and corrosion mechanisms.
* Record inspection observations, abnormalities and recommended corrective measures.
* Support reports with checklists, assembly drawings, sketches and defect-location details.
* Conduct routine corrosion monitoring while plant equipment remains in operation.
* Perform failure analysis and develop measures that prevent recurrence.
* Prepare material specifications for plant equipment, piping and facilities.
* Develop Welding Procedure Specifications for project and maintenance work.
* Prepare welder qualifications in accordance with ASME Section IX.
* Establish quality plans for projects, modifications and turnaround activities.
* Investigate corrosion affecting cooling-water systems, piping and other installations.
* Analyse corrosion trends and recommend technically suitable control solutions.
* Monitor cathodic-protection systems serving underground pipelines.
* Assess protection of metallic and concrete structures and troubleshoot system deficiencies.
* Coordinate assigned activities and provide technical guidance to relevant stakeholders.
* Maintain compliance with project quality, HSE and asset-integrity requirements.

Ideal Profile
Candidates must hold a Bachelor\'s Degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering or an equivalent professional qualification. At least eight years of relevant industrial experience is required, including substantial exposure to corrosion management and integrity management within a large organization.

The ideal candidate will combine metallurgy, welding and corrosion expertise with the ability to review project specifications and investigate plant failures. Experience coordinating inspection access, assessing vendor technologies and producing detailed technical documentation is important. Relevant professional certification should be held where applicable.
