Role Context
The role provides hands-on
mechanical maintenance support for essential production equipment operating in demanding Oil and Gas environments. The successful professional will coordinate maintenance activities, troubleshoot mechanical failures, oversee technicians and verify completed work while ensuring that plant equipment remains available for safe and continuous operations. The position requires strong knowledge of rotating machinery, static equipment, maintenance planning, work permits and HSE controls.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventive, corrective, breakdown and shutdown maintenance on rotating and static mechanical equipment.
* Obtain approved work permits before maintenance activities and ensure all operational and safety requirements are understood.
* Arrange transportation, materials, spare parts, tools and equipment needed for scheduled maintenance work.
* Assign tasks to mechanical technicians according to workload, technical requirements and maintenance priorities.
* Assist technicians with troubleshooting complex mechanical equipment faults and determining effective repair solutions.
* Inspect completed maintenance work and conduct functional checks to verify equipment readiness.
* Carry out routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities according to approved schedules and equipment requirements.
* Replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical components before they affect plant reliability.
* Participate in major equipment overhauls and determine whether components require repair, refurbishment or replacement.
* Troubleshoot equipment failures using inspection findings, operating information and technical data.
* Participate in run-off load testing and operational testing of rotating machinery before equipment is returned to service.
* Support maintenance of high-speed turbo compressors, pumps, valves, pressure vessels, separators and heat exchangers.
* Review maintenance method statements and Job Safety Analysis documentation for routine and non-routine activities.
* Conduct toolbox talks before work begins, highlighting task-specific risks, control measures and responsibilities.
* Maintain company-issued mechanical tools, lifting accessories and safety equipment in serviceable condition.
* Coordinate repair or replacement of damaged and defective tools when required.
* Complete maintenance assignments within approved time standards and advise supervisors when additional manpower, materials or technical support are needed.
* Record equipment faults, maintenance activities, labor utilization, materials consumed and completion times in daily maintenance reports.
* Collect technical field information required for equipment history, reliability analysis and maintenance planning.
* Contribute to progress reports, Near Miss reporting and maintenance method statements.
* Use ERP and computerized maintenance systems such as SAP and Maximo for work orders, maintenance records and equipment information.
* Participate in project reviews covering equipment selection, maintainability and constructability.
* Provide mechanical input during pre-commissioning and commissioning activities for new or modified equipment.
* Identify improvements to mechanical procedures, tools, equipment and work practices that can increase reliability and maintenance efficiency.
* Participate in emergency response activities when required by plant operating conditions.
* Maintain orderly and safe work areas before, during and after maintenance activities.
* Coordinate closely with Electrical, Control, Workshop and other plant teams when maintenance activities require multidisciplinary support.
* Share equipment incidents, technical findings and lessons learned during team meetings.
* Provide practical on-the-job guidance to UAE National employees participating in competency development programs.
Ideal Profile
* B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a recognized Diploma Certificate in a relevant mechanical discipline.
* Minimum 10 years of mechanical maintenance experience within a large industrial organization, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.
* Strong practical experience maintaining both rotating and static plant equipment.
* Hands-on knowledge of high-speed turbo compressors, centrifugal and process pumps, pressure vessels, separators, heat exchangers and industrial valves.
* Ability to diagnose mechanical equipment failures and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
* Familiarity with preventive maintenance, shutdown maintenance, major equipment overhaul and equipment integrity requirements.
* Working knowledge of Job Safety Analysis, method statements, work permit systems and mechanical maintenance safety controls.
* Experience supporting commissioning, pre-commissioning and equipment performance testing activities.
* Familiarity with SAP, Maximo or comparable enterprise maintenance management systems.
* Ability to read mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, maintenance instructions and technical specifications.
* Strong understanding of HSE requirements applicable to maintenance activities in operating Oil and Gas facilities.
