Mechanical equipment performance directly affects plant production, safety, and operating continuity. Reliable execution depends on proper planning, skilled employees, available spare parts, suitable lifting resources, and close supervision throughout each maintenance task.
The Mechanical Supervisor will coordinate technicians, contractors, workshops, procurement teams, and operational stakeholders. Effective field control and technical support will reduce downtime, improve repair quality, and support the safe return of equipment to service.
Key Responsibilities
The role will supervise mechanical work execution while coordinating schedules, resources, technical requirements, materials, and safety controls.
* Confirm the availability of employees, contractors, tools, equipment, and materials for planned work.
* Coordinate maintenance activities against approved schedules and operational priorities.
* Plan, schedule, execute, and supervise preventive maintenance for rotating and static equipment.
* Coordinate predictive-maintenance activities and follow identified equipment concerns.
* Direct breakdown repairs and technical troubleshooting.
* Inspect work in progress and verify that activities follow approved procedures.
* Monitor final completion and report maintenance status, quality, and outstanding actions.
* Provide field technical support during critical mechanical work.
* Prepare technical scopes of work for equipment repair and refurbishment.
* Support contract preparation, cost reporting, and commercial negotiations.
* Verify that external repair services meet required technical and quality standards.
* Update refurbished-equipment databases and maintenance-history records.
* Maintain accurate histories for equipment and associated accessories.
* Conduct daily and weekly toolbox talks covering job risks and safe working methods.
* Supervise the testing and commissioning of new or modified equipment.
* Confirm that completed repairs follow correct technical methods and safety procedures.
* Participate in the planning and execution of plant shutdowns.
* Coordinate major equipment overhauls and monitor completion against schedule.
* Prepare lists of spare parts, tools, consumables, and materials for maintenance jobs.
* Raise purchase and material requisitions according to work requirements.
* Inspect received direct-charge and stock materials.
* Confirm that received items match approved specifications and required quality.
* Arrange the safe transportation of materials and equipment to work sites.
* Coordinate heavy-equipment and rigging support with workshop supervisors.
* Maintain compliance with HSE requirements throughout mechanical activities.
Ideal Profile
Applicants should hold a diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
A minimum of five years of experience supervising mechanical-maintenance activities within a large industrial organization is required. Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
The successful candidate should understand rotating equipment, static equipment, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, breakdown repair, shutdown execution, commissioning, and major overhauls. Strong planning, field supervision, safety leadership, materials control, technical reporting, and contractor coordination are essential. Applicable professional certifications will provide an advantage.
