Role Context
The NDE Inspector - Welding Quality will support welding inspection, NDT review, and quality control activities for oil and gas and petrochemical projects. The role is important for verifying weld integrity, identifying defects, reviewing inspection results, and ensuring that testing activities are completed according to approved standards and technical procedures.
This position contributes to safe and reliable project delivery by combining NDE equipment operation, calibration techniques, welding inspection knowledge, NDT report review, metallurgy awareness, and disciplined documentation practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform and review NDE activities including ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, and visual inspection.
* Support welding inspection and quality control work for oil and gas and petrochemical plant projects.
* Verify that NDT activities follow approved procedures, inspection test plans, client specifications, and quality requirements.
* Review inspection reports, test results, weld records, calibration references, and supporting technical documentation.
* Identify weld defects, discontinuities, material concerns, non-compliance items, and inspection-related quality risks.
* Check NDE equipment operation, calibration status, testing readiness, and inspection method suitability.
* Apply ASNT Level II knowledge during inspection, review, verification, and reporting activities.
* Coordinate with QA-QC teams, welding inspectors, NDT technicians, contractors, supervisors, and client representatives.
* Support technical review of inspection findings and help resolve issues related to weld quality or NDT acceptance.
* Maintain accurate documentation for inspection records, quality observations, corrective actions, and project closeout.
* Follow site safety rules, permit requirements, and approved inspection procedures during all assigned activities.
* Complete assigned inspection tasks within project timelines while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and professional discipline.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or a related technical discipline.
* 10-12 years of experience in welding inspection, NDT review, and quality control.
* At least 5 years of experience in oil and gas or petrochemical plant environments.
* ASNT Level II certification in UT, MT, RT, and PT is required.
* Strong knowledge of ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, dye penetrant testing, and visual inspection.
* Practical understanding of welding inspection, metallurgy basics, NDE equipment operation, and calibration techniques.
* Ability to review NDT reports, inspection findings, technical documents, and quality records accurately.
* Strong attention to detail when identifying defects, documentation gaps, and compliance issues.
* Good communication skills for coordination with QA-QC teams, contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.
* Ability to work in demanding industrial project environments while maintaining safety and inspection discipline.
