Role Context
The Painting and Coating Inspector will support QA-QC inspection activities for coating, painting, insulation, and corrosion protection works across oil and gas projects. The role is important for ensuring that surface preparation, coating materials, application methods, environmental conditions, and final inspection results are properly checked before acceptance.
This position contributes to asset protection and project reliability by combining coating inspection expertise, surface preparation evaluation, visual inspection, quality control, technical documentation, and awareness of approved coating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect painting, coating, insulation, and related QA-QC activities for oil and gas project requirements.
* Review surface preparation, cleanliness, profile, coating application, curing, and final coating condition against approved specifications.
* Support inspection of 3LPE coating systems, industrial coating materials, paint application, and protective coating work.
* Check coating thickness, adhesion, surface defects, environmental conditions, repair areas, and acceptance criteria.
* Verify that coating and painting activities follow approved procedures, inspection test plans, client requirements, and quality standards.
* Carry out visual inspections and support NDT testing requirements where applicable to coating and surface condition checks.
* Identify coating defects, application issues, surface preparation problems, insulation concerns, and non-compliance items.
* Prepare inspection reports, coating records, test results, technical notes, and corrective action documentation.
* Coordinate with applicators, supervisors, QA-QC teams, project engineers, safety personnel, and client representatives.
* Ensure coating materials, tools, and application practices are suitable for the required project scope.
* Follow health, safety, and site procedures during painting, coating, surface preparation, and inspection activities.
* Maintain accurate documentation and support timely closeout of inspection-related project records.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
* BGAS Grade 2 or NACE Level 2 certification is required or strongly preferred.
* Candidates with a 3-year diploma should have more than 12 years of industrial QA-QC experience in 3LPE coating systems, coating, painting, and insulation.
* Candidates with a bachelor’s degree should have more than 3 years of industrial QA-QC experience in coating, painting, and insulation within oil and gas.
* Strong knowledge of paint application, coating inspection, surface preparation evaluation, and coating materials.
* Practical understanding of quality control, visual inspection, NDT testing support, and technical documentation.
* Ability to identify coating defects and ensure inspection results match project acceptance criteria.
* Good communication skills for coordination with QA-QC teams, contractors, and client representatives.
* Strong attention to detail with a disciplined approach to inspection reports and quality records.
* Ability to work in oil and gas project environments while following safety and inspection procedures.
* Indian candidates are preferred as this opportunity is exclusively open to India candidates.
