Supervisor - Instrument Maintenance in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates is an Oil and Energy opportunity for an experienced instrumentation maintenance professional who can supervise and perform installation, commissioning, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, analytical, and control system equipment. The role supports safe plant operations by ensuring instrumentation systems, ESD testing, workshop tools, spare parts, maintenance records, and field execution activities are managed in line with HSE requirements, operating procedures, maintenance standards, and permit to work controls.

Role Context

The Supervisor - Instrument Maintenance plays a practical role in maintaining reliable process control and safety systems across operating areas. This position combines hands-on instrumentation work with field supervision, technician coordination, contractor oversight, fault reporting, spare parts planning, ESD testing support, commissioning participation, and maintenance documentation. The role helps reduce downtime, improve control system reliability, support safe shutdown and startup activities, and ensure instrumentation work is completed within assigned time standards and approved safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Supervise and carry out installation, maintenance, commissioning, repair, and troubleshooting of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, and analytical instruments.
* Maintain and repair control systems and related instrumentation equipment in operating areas according to approved procedures.
* Supervise and participate in ESD system testing, plant shutdown activities, and commissioning of new plant equipment.
* Ensure workshop facilities, calibration tools, test equipment, safety gear, and maintenance resources are used correctly and kept in working condition.
* Monitor assigned technicians, fitters, and contractor personnel during installation, commissioning, repair, and maintenance work.
* Ensure instrumentation and control system tasks are completed within process control, safety system, and operating requirements.
* Troubleshoot minor control-related issues and escalate major problems, discrepancies, ESD testing findings, and emergency issues for timely resolution.
* Carry out regular reviews of spare parts availability and estimate future requirements for tools, test equipment, materials, and critical spares.
* Arrange requirements for new tools, spare parts, test equipment, and materials to support smooth maintenance execution.
* Verify maintenance records, fault reports, logbooks, alarm indexes, and trip indexes to ensure proper technical tracking.
* Implement and comply with relevant policies, systems, processes, standards, procedures, and operational controls.
* Provide on-the-job training to support competency-based training programs and UAE National development.
* Maintain tools, safety equipment, and company-provided gear safely and arrange repair or replacement when items are not fit for use.
* Complete maintenance jobs within assigned time standards and inform the maintenance supervisor when additional resources are required.
* Identify opportunities to improve operating procedures, functional processes, machinery, equipment reliability, and maintenance efficiency.
* Comply with HSE policies, procedures, controls, applicable legislation, sustainability guidelines, and ADNOC Code of Practices.
* Participate in emergency response duties as required.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment before, during, and after job execution in line with housekeeping and hygiene standards.
* Collect field technical data and provide inputs for section progress reports and company management updates.
* Support preparation of method statements and initiate near miss reports when required.
* Coordinate with line managers, peers, internal teams, consultants, third-party service providers, and government agencies when necessary.

Ideal Profile

* Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
* Secondary School Certificate with a relevant vocational trade certificate may also be considered.
* Minimum 6 years of experience in repair and maintenance of instrument and control equipment within a large industrial plant.
* Previous experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
* Strong practical knowledge of electronic, pneumatic, mechanical, analytical, and control system instrumentation.
* Experience with ESD testing, plant shutdowns, commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and field maintenance execution.
* Ability to supervise technicians, fitters, contractors, and field maintenance teams safely and effectively.
* Good understanding of process control systems, safety systems, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and permit to work requirements.
* Familiarity with spare parts planning, tool control, test equipment use, maintenance records, fault reports, alarm indexes, and trip indexes.
* Able to support competency-based training, UAE National development, emergency response, housekeeping, and near miss reporting.
* Strong attention to safety, equipment reliability, time management, documentation accuracy, and practical problem solving.
* Comfortable working in an air-conditioned environment with occasional exposure to heat, humidity, and dust during site visits.
