Role Context

The Petroleum Engineer - Production Operations will help improve field performance by connecting drilling activity, completion design, well testing, production technology, artificial lift, reservoir data, and facility optimization into one practical engineering workflow. The position monitors well performance, identifies production constraints, supports pressure transient analysis, evaluates well test results, maintains technical well databases, and recommends optimization opportunities. By coordinating with drilling, reservoir, production, facilities, and studies teams, the role supports safe execution, production reliability, and improved recovery from assigned fields.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and coordinate technical input from multidisciplinary petroleum development professionals involved in drilling, completion, production, and field optimization activities.
* Generate completion concepts and define completion requirements in line with approved production and injection strategies for assigned wells.
* Support pilot hole data acquisition planning, execution, and evaluation in coordination with studies and reservoir teams.
* Identify opportunities for production optimization across wells, facilities, artificial lift systems, and the wider production network.
* Evaluate and perform artificial lift design for oil producers to improve well deliverability and production efficiency.
* Finalize well testing strategy, monitor test execution, evaluate results, and convert findings into practical engineering recommendations.
* Monitor daily well performance, diagnose production issues, and evaluate optimization opportunities based on operating data and field constraints.
* Perform nodal analysis to support production system optimization and identify bottlenecks from reservoir to surface facilities.
* Assist reservoir teams in designing and performing pressure transient analysis and interpreting well behavior.
* Monitor drilling activities, communicate concerns to drilling teams, and provide technical support for smooth field operations.
* Create and maintain a detailed well database covering operational activities, acquired data, well tests, pressure history, optimization work, and technical interventions.
* Ensure approved well plans are followed and highlight deviations requiring technical review, operational decision-making, or management attention.
* Recommend and plan special tests, pilot trials, or project test runs before field-wide or reservoir-level implementation.
* Carry out technical studies to evaluate alternatives for upgrading, debottlenecking, or enhancing existing facilities to meet production targets.
* Coordinate investigations of production technology problems and recommend appropriate solutions using new equipment, logging, testing, or production techniques.
* Review and assess new technologies related to production, injection, artificial lift, well monitoring, and production optimization.
* Participate in feasibility studies to recommend adoption of new production techniques, tools, equipment, and operating methods.
* Prepare monthly production and injection potential based on flow test results, rig activity schedules, hook-up status, and commissioning plans.
* Establish priority order for opening depleted wells to meet required field offtake while considering reservoir constraints and injection-production balance.
* Follow up gas and water injection performance to ensure adherence to required specifications, quantities, and field development requirements.
* Coordinate with drilling, reservoir, production, operations, facilities, testing, and commissioning teams to support integrated field performance improvement.
* Maintain technical accuracy, engineering discipline, and clear reporting for well performance, optimization studies, and production technology decisions.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor Degree in Petroleum Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification.
* Minimum 8 years of experience across petroleum engineering operations, preferably within large Oil and Energy field operations.
* Strong knowledge of drilling operations, well completions, production optimization, artificial lift, well testing, and production technology.
* Practical experience monitoring well performance, diagnosing production issues, and recommending optimization actions.
* Ability to perform nodal analysis and support pressure transient analysis in coordination with reservoir teams.
* Experience supporting pilot hole data acquisition, drilling activity monitoring, completion requirements, and well testing programs.
* Good understanding of production and injection strategies, reservoir constraints, field offtake requirements, and injection-production balance.
* Strong technical ability to evaluate artificial lift designs, well test results, production constraints, and field performance data.
* Experience maintaining well databases, operational histories, pressure records, well tests, and optimization documentation.
* Ability to review new technologies for production, injection, artificial lift, logging, testing, and well performance improvement.
* Skilled in coordinating with drilling, reservoir, production, operations, facilities, studies, and commissioning teams.
* Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert field data into engineering recommendations.
* Comfortable supporting operational decisions in a structured oil and gas environment with production targets, technical constraints, and field safety requirements.
