Role Context
The Pipeline Technician helps maintain the integrity, availability and safe operation of pipeline assets through hands-on field maintenance and continuous monitoring. The position combines mechanical repair, pigging activities, cathodic protection checks and pipeline surveillance with oversight of third-party work near company infrastructure. By identifying abnormal conditions early and ensuring maintenance resources are properly prepared, the role contributes directly to pipeline reliability, asset protection and uninterrupted operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform preventive, corrective and troubleshooting mechanical maintenance on pipeline equipment.
* Carry out required mechanical tests in accordance with approved procedures and work permit conditions.
* Execute pipeline pigging operations in line with company procedures and operational requirements.
* Prepare pipeline equipment and associated facilities for planned pigging activities.
* Record readings at cathodic protection test points located along pipeline routes.
* Report low cathodic protection readings, abnormal measurements or signs of potential integrity concerns.
* Conduct routine pipeline patrols to monitor right-of-way conditions.
* Identify and report unauthorized construction, excavation or other hazardous activity near pipeline corridors.
* Monitor third-party activities carried out on or near company pipeline assets.
* Oversee contractors performing work around pipelines to help prevent accidental damage to company infrastructure.
* Inspect civil works associated with construction projects and verify that activities meet safety and technical requirements.
* Monitor pipeline systems and record relevant field process parameters.
* Identify abnormal operating conditions and communicate findings to the responsible supervisor.
* Support troubleshooting of mechanical problems affecting pipeline equipment and associated facilities.
* Assist with repair or replacement of defective mechanical components.
* Verify completion of maintenance work before equipment is returned to normal service.
* Ensure maintenance tasks are carried out in accordance with applicable technical and HSE requirements.
* Maintain availability of required tools, spare parts and maintenance equipment.
* Check material and equipment requirements before scheduled maintenance activities begin.
* Prepare scopes of work for pipeline maintenance and field activities.
* Define relevant safety requirements, Permit to Work needs, specialist tools and material requirements within work scopes.
* Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance and contractors during pipeline intervention activities.
* Maintain accurate field records covering maintenance work, inspection findings and operating readings.
* Report pipeline integrity concerns requiring further technical assessment or corrective action.
* Support continuous improvement of pipeline maintenance practices and field work execution.

Ideal Profile
* Technical Diploma in a relevant mechanical or pipeline discipline, or Secondary School Certificate supported by an appropriate vocational trade certificate.
* Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry.
* Practical experience maintaining pipeline equipment and associated field facilities.
* Strong understanding of preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance.
* Familiarity with pipeline pigging operations and related safety requirements.
* Practical knowledge of cathodic protection test point monitoring.
* Ability to identify abnormal cathodic protection readings and report integrity concerns.
